What a great way to learn in a fun way!
On Tuesday, December 6th, Ridgemont Early Literacy Center hosted their First Learning Lab. The topic was Vocabulary Strategies, and the purpose of this lab was to present different strategies that teachers can use to teach academic and content vocabulary during Science instruction.
Mrs. Donalson, Bilingual Specialist, and Mrs. Glover, EL Specialist, presented GLAD strategies while teachers participated in the learning and shared ideas with their colleagues. A total of 22 teachers attended this highly engaging Learning Lab.
EMPOWERING PARENTS WITH READING STRATEGIES TO DO AT HOME
Estrategias de lectura para hacer en casa
Lula Belle Goodman Elementary offered a session for parents to learn reading strategies to do at home with their kids. Resources to develop comprehension skills and fluency were provided to parents. Our goal is to equip parents and build a literacy community that will lead to students’ success. More sessions will be offered in 2023!
Poetry Night at E.A. Jones Elementary
EA Jones students in the bilingual program participated in Poetry Night. They read, discussed, and recited poems in Spanish.

FBISD Hosts CCMR Community Event
On Wednesday, November 30, Fort Bend ISD hosted a community event aimed at fourth through seventh grade students. The event was designed to help those students and their families learn more about the programs the district offers in terms of College, Career and Military Readiness. Our World Language Coordinator, Melissa Vargas, was there to share information about our World Language programs. She was joined by three language teachers, Frederique Will (French teacher at KHS), Yumi Franklin (Japanese teacher at THS and BHS) and Seth Hulse (German teacher at THS) who shared their passion for their respective languages with students and their parents.
How well is my student doing in learning English?
You will enter your student’s access code and date of birth here.
If you do not know your child’s access code, please click on the question “Look Up Unique Access Code.” You will need your social security code or S number and date of birth. That will give you your child’s access code for future use.
How can I help my student be successful on TELPAS?
You do not have to be a fluent English speaker to help your student be successful on TELPAS. Below are activities the Texas Education Agency recommends.
• Create an environment rich in literature.
• Read together or independently.
• Read some things more than once to discover new details or facts and to show progress in fluency and ability to read.
• Read non-fiction books and/or informative articles.
• Listen to audio books and talk about the theme, the characters, or the best parts of the book.
• Make lists or write the steps for a process.
• Write letters, notes, invitations, or emails.
