A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan Families,
Thanks for a great week! We are starting to embrace the rhythm of the school day. These early weeks are focused on establishing routes, expectations, and putting names to faces – it’s a lot of “new”, but the energy in the building is amazing. We recognize it’s a long day for some of our youngest Sharks, but trust that every day builds endurance and bonding that makes this such a happy place to be. One of the highlights of the week was today’s Shark Family Event. Our Sharks met as mixed-grade groups to meet each other and play get-to-know-you games. It’s lovely to see our new 4th graders step into their leadership roles in their families. Ask your Shark all about it!
We look forward to seeing our Sheridan community at tonight’s APT Back to School Bash on the Sheridan playground from 5:30-7:00 pm, rain or shine! This is always a great time – come for music, games, and fun for the whole family. Please walk if you can. Our front parking lot is available or spillover parking has been cleared with LFPD on Spruce east of Sheridan Road.
10-Pass Bus - Update and Policy Reminder
Families who purchased a 10-pass for the bus should be receiving them in the mail within the next few days. Tickets are bright green and must be stapled to your green note or change of transportation form included in the 10-pass envelope. Please keep your green tickets in a safe place as the District will not replace them if lost. We MUST receive the pass attached to a green note - students will not be allowed to ride the bus without it. This applies to previous-year purchases - you must turn in the green pass for your child to ride the bus. If you can’t find them, please purchase a new pack.
If you are interested in purchasing a 10-pass for your student, please visit the District webstore at https://lakeforest67.revtrak.net/transportation/#/list These passes are intended for the occasional rider who does not have an assigned route. Passes do not expire and can be used by any family member. This is a one-time purchase for the school year. Remember, passes purchased in a previous year are valid, but MUST be attached to your child’s green note. Contact Natalia Martinez in the business office at 847-604-7437 if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan

Introducing Typetastic School Edition for Keyboarding
We're excited to introduce Typetastic School Edition as our new keyboarding instruction resource that’s available in Clever for students! Initial instruction will begin during library sessions for grades 2-4 and later be a resource for classrooms or home.
Strong keyboarding skills are crucial for academic success, and this program will help students develop speed, accuracy, and confidence. We look forward to seeing our students grow as capable digital learners through this valuable addition to our library program!
Curriculum Coordinating Committee Parent/Guardian Representative Needed
Dear District 67 Parents and Guardians:
My name is Vail Kieser, and I’m thrilled to be the Director of Teaching and Learning in Lake Forest District 67. Parents and guardians bring invaluable perspectives to our District 67 work. One of the ways we seek parent and guardian involvement is through the Curriculum Coordinating Committee (CCC). It is composed of teachers, administrators, parents, and guardians, bringing to bear multiple perspectives on the work we do for our students.
Considering plans for curriculum review/evaluation
Receiving input regarding curriculum related matters
Serving in an advisory capacity to the administration and Board of Education
The District is seeking to fill a parent/guardian vacancy for a three-year CCC term. Appointments to the committee will be based upon interest and qualifications.
Those interested in serving on the CCC should apply using this application form below.
Qualifications include the ability to analyze and discuss curricular issues, to participate in collective decision-making, and to communicate effectively. Applications are due by 8:00 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Meetings will be held monthly with the first meeting on Monday, October 7, at 4:00 pm. Meetings may be held in person or virtually, depending on the time and purpose.
Applicants will be informed of membership by Friday, September 27, 2024. Thank you for considering this opportunity!
Vail Kieser
Director of Teaching & Learning
