Planning Ahead, Cultivating Potential, Inspiring Achievement
Join us as we embark on an exciting journey to redefine excellence in education with 'Ascend 123: Strategic Planning.' School District 123, in partnership with our entire learning community, will shape the future of our schools and create an environment where every student can thrive. Join us in this transformative process and make a lasting impact!
Between our Summer Programs and construction projects, District 123 has been busy preparing for the 2024-25 school year! Our goal is to develop optimal learning spaces by ensuring flexible facility designs and adapting to the needs of students. Each school is equipped with attractive, safe, and engaging environments that support our strategic goals. Throughout our news stories this week, please take a look at the building updates happening this summer!
Summer Learning and Fun
Getting classroom technology ready
Our D123 custodial and tech teams have been hard at work making sure each classroom is clean and has working technology for the start of the school year. Covington will also be seeing a new gymnasium floor later in the summer.
A fresh coat of paint
Hannum's hallways are looking much brighter as crews work to get a fresh coat of paint on the walls. We can't for the smilies on students' faces to brighten up the halls even more.
Summer reading challenge and extended school year
Hometown's media center has been open on select days this summer for students to check out books and participate in a reading challenge. Students can also go to the Hometown Public Library to partake in the challenge. Hometown also hosts an extended school year program for students to continue learning through the summer.
Excited for learning to start in this new media center
Crews have been hard at work renovating Kolmar's media center. It may look like a construction zone now, but it will be breathtaking when it's completed. We can't wait to see all the learning that will happen in this new space during the 2024-25 school year and beyond.
We cant wait for the grand opening of the ELC
The D123 Early Learning Center is looking great with renovated classrooms, a new playground, and more. We can't wait for the first group of Early Learning Lions to roam these spaces and begin exploring.
Sward's Roof Repair
The roof above Sward's media center was in need of some repair. This is an important step before the media center renovation, slated to begin the summer of 2025.
District Office renovation
At District 123's District Office, we are working on renovating the training center for more professional development opportunities. Our front desk/reception area is also getting an update.
D123 Summer Math Resources & Learning Plan
Engage students in meaningful summer learning through foundational and high-priority math skills from the previous year. Participation with IXL skills over the summer will help students thrive in the next grade level.
Using Clever During Summer
We encourage you to take a moment to celebrate your child's achievements and motivate them to continue their hard work.
Please note that Clever digital learning resources will be temporarily unavailable beginning in August due to scheduled summer maintenance.
Both Clever and your student's schedule will be accessible again on August 14th at noon.
We wish you and your family a safe and happy summer! See you next school year!

Thank you to all who submitted your stories to D123 4-WARD. It was a pleasure to read all the submissions. We are so proud of our alumni and the variety of paths they have taken to success. From becoming a doctor to following their entrepreneurial spirit, these graduates all exemplify what it means to be D123.
We want to hear about our alumni's successes in high school, college, and beyond! As our students graduate from D123 and move 4-Ward, we want to stay connected and hear about all the journeys taken in "tomorrow's world." Tell us stories from the classroom, the athletic field, the stage, the culinary lab, extracurricular activities, volunteer experiences, and everywhere in between. We are interested in everything our alumni have been up to since they graduated 8th grade. Fill out this form for possible inclusion in our alumni spotlight electronic newsletter, D123 4-WARD.
Note: Submissions received from this point on will be considered for the December edition.
