Weekly Update for Nov. 27th-Dec.1st
Weekly Update for Truscott Elementary-Dual Language School
From Mrs. Hanford
As I reflect on the first of the school year, I'm grateful each day to be a part of this amazing school. We have the best students, families and staff. I love coming to work each day. Daily I enjoy observing students learning in two languages about reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. Our students have great opportunities to learn during art, music, PE, library and Spanish enrichment classes as well. Daily we are teaching students to be kind humans and learn life skills like problem solving, collaborating and care for each other and our community. Thank you for being a part of the Truscott community!
On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, Truscott will host a community forum with Dr. Schaffer and members of our school board. They will give a presentation regarding our school district, answer questions and take feedback during this time. The forum will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am, as a part of our Cafe con Leche meeting. We hope to see you there!
Enjoy your Thanksgiving Week and we will see you on Monday, November 27th at our all school assembly!
With gratitude,
Karen Hanford

Do you want to get involved? Have you heard of DAAC?
Do you want to get involved? Have you heard of DAAC? The District Advisory & Accountability Committee (DAAC) offers families, students, staff and community members the opportunity to become involved with the improvement of the educational system. DAAC submits recommendations for the district unified improvement plan (DUIP) and monitors progress, reviews charter applications, makes recommendations to the school board to consider for budget purposes, and supports family engagement in district committees and in schools.
Annually, the Board approves the DAAC membership roster. To the extent practicable, the school board must ensure that the stakeholders appointed reflect the student populations significantly represented within the district. This is why we are extending our DAAC membership timeline. We have representation from 17 of our district schools, but would like to see ALL schools represented.
DAAC meets once a month, August through April. Our meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 6:00-7:30 pm, in-person with a virtual option. Anyone can attend a DAAC meeting, but we do have voting members. Voting members are urged to participate regularly to ensure a quorum on important DAAC actions.
If you are interested in joining DAAC please email laura.copeland@tsd.org and she will send you more information. Thank you!
