Thoughts from the R9 TIA Team
Dear TIA Leads,
Our Region 9 ESC Team is excited to send out the first edition of our newsletter titled “R9 TIA News and Notes”. This will be a monthly newsletter that we’ll send out on the first day of the month that will be specific to our Region 9 TIA districts. We want to keep you informed about our professional development, deadlines, things to consider, TIA Resources, TEA Zooms and much more. ESC 9 wants to be your source for helping to support your TIA system.
Thank you and we look forward to our continued partnership!

Region 9 will offer Office Hours on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
Region 9 will be hosting an R9 TIA Office Hours every month. The first one will start in October. This Office Hours will be a Zoom only for Region 9 districts. We’ll start each Office Hours with any updates you need to know, and then give you time to ask our TIA Team any specific questions that you have about your designation system, your data for submission or anything else related to TIA. We’ll be hosting these office hours on the second Tuesday of each month. We want you to vote for the time that works best for you. The time that gets the most votes will be selected as the permanent time for this year. Please vote below. Voting ends Sept. 27th!
💬We need your feedback! Which time is best for you?
District Designations
We’re on top of it! Districts will now be given one of four labels moving forward. These labels include:
Developing/Applying Districts- This is for a district developing their local designation system and applying to TEA for the first time.
Application Accepted Districts- These are districts who had their initial application or an expand/modify application accepted, but have never had their data approved (received allotments).
Fully or Provisionally Approved Districts- These are districts that have had their data approved by TEA and have received allotments for their teachers.
Renewal Districts- Every 5 years, districts have to renew their application to TEA to remain a TIA district.
These titles can change year over year. For example, if a district has never received an allotment, but they turn in their data and it gets approved, then the district moves from Application Accepted to Fully Approved.
Look down in the appropriate category below to keep track of PD opportunities, action items, TEA Zooms and deadlines. Each section is a one stop shop for all timely information for your category. We hope that this newsletter keeps you up to date with everything that you need to know in the world of TIA! Our next newsletter will come out on Oct. 1st.

Fully & Provisionally Approved Districts
Congratulations! Your Local Designation System has been accepted, you have captured at least one year of data, and that data has been validated by TEA. Moving forward, you'll continue to collect and submit data every year.
FYI: Next year, all of the districts formerly known as Cohort D will move to the Renewal Districts designation, as it is required to renew TIA applications every five years.
