From the Principal's Desk
Hello Rose Pioneer Families,
First trimester report cards are available to be viewed in Skyward Family Access today. After logging in, go to the left side of the screen to the “Home” section, scroll down, click on “Portfolio” and you will be able to view all current and previous report cards. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about his or her report card, or the main office if you need additional information regarding how to access Skyward Family Access.
Below, you will find the temporary bus cancellation schedule. As a reminder, route 31 will not run next week. Please use the carline to drop off and pick up students. Preschool students must be signed into and out of school but all other students, Y5-5th grade, are to be dropped off and picked up curbside in front of the building. Other than preschool parents, please do not park and walk your child to class or attempt to walk up to the carline staff to retrieve your student. Simply stay in the carline and approach curbside; it really does move along quickly and safely.
Please read below and remember to return the information we sent home regarding Santa Shop next week at Rose Pioneer. If you would like to assist with Santa Shop, please contact the office with your name and phone number and a Pioneer Parents PTO volunteer will contact you. Pioneer Parents is still in need of wrapping paper, ribbon, tissue paper and gift bags. Any of these items (don't need to be brand new) can be donated to the main office prior to Santa Shop.
Please help our Student Leadership Team with their Food Drive to benefit local families this holiday season. We are extending the food drive through next Friday, December 13th. Students can bring in canned meat-based food and soup, pasta, sauce, mac and cheese, canned or cupped fruit, toothpaste/toothbrushes, dish soap and bar soap. We are very proud of our students for this important service learning opportunity that will directly benefit our community through the Holly PD Sharing Pantry.
If you aren't already connected, please like Rose Pioneer Elementary School on Facebook and @RosePioneerEl on Twitter.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Michael Beattie

Self-Awareness
Self Awareness is knowing what we are feeling and why. Identifying feelings and emotions can sometimes be difficult for students. At Rose Pioneer, we use the Zones of Regulation to help students think and talk about how they are feeling. The Zones of Regulation sorts emotions into four different colored zones: blue, green, yellow and red. Once a student can identify the zone, they can often identify how their brain and body are feeling. Through specific strategies, the skill of self regulation (last month’s focus), can be used to ensure students are ready to learn.
