Apple has introduced its new Files app with iOS 11 and along with it come improvements for managing, editing, and sharing your data. The new files app is becoming my go to. I am finding myself using my iPad more and more and more. Because now I can easily access all the files on my Mac. YES, ALL THEM, from iCloud drive to Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google drive and more.

If you are new to Mac or not, the Apple Teacher Learning Center is an invaluable resource. I want to encourage you to earn your Badges for both Mac and iPad.

Log in using your Apple ID. Start with either Badges for Mac or Badges for iPad. You will see a series, they are in a suggested order. Choose Getting start for example. when you get to the page, scroll down and download the iBook to read. when you have read it and practiced the various tasks, take the 5 question quiz to earn your first badge. By the way, you can take the quiz as many times as you want. I do this in my tech class at KSU and my students indicated it takes 30 minutes to an hour to complete each badge.

I guarantee you will learn a ton, even experienced users will learn some new tricks.

Thanks to my friend April Requard for this tip. This is a FREE app called HiddenMe Free: Hide Desktop Icons. It is available in the Mac App Store. Download it and then you will have a small black circle in your menu bar. Once you click on it, you can hide your desktop icons like magic! You can even set up a hotkey.

A school district in Texas, Deer Park ISD had hundreds of TinyTaps created and they are easy to find, they always put dpisd in the title. So just search for dpisd and you will find them.

Infographics are visual representations of information. They can include numbers, text, images, or any combination of the three. Just as in traditional writing assignments, infographs can take on any of the various rhetorical modes — informative, instructive, descriptive, persuasive, etc. Infographics provide authors with a quick way to convey a lot of information.

Want to make a seemingly mundane topic more interesting? Check out this infographic on cremation. Who knew that you could have your ashes stuffed into a teddy bear for your loved ones? Definitely, something to consider. Notice that this infographic does include sources, although they may not be in MLA or APA format. This, though, is something you can require of your students if you assign an infographic writing assignment.

This is a pretty darn good iPad stand that can be used in multiple ways. Think Mystery Skype, scanning documents, mount on a table, or bookcase or even the wall! The price is right, just $42 for one and price goes down if ordering several.

The Apple Pencil is awesome and is setting a VERY high standard for other stylus to live up to, but it is expensive and only works with iPad Pros. I love my Apple Pencil but at 100 bucks, I am always worried about losing it.

I know you can buy a rubber tip stylus for a few bucks, they don't last very long and just are clunky when writing or drawing. At $39.99, the Pinpoint Precision X2 is more than half the price of the Apple Pencil. And it is also compatible with all iPads, all iPhones, and other devices like Android.

I have had mine for a couple months now and I am very impressed. Absolutely worth the price.
