This week, we start the month of August! Where has summer gone, right? We hope you are soaking in your days with your family and friends! Today, we welcomed our new to district and new to profession staff, and next week, we welcome all staff back to campus. It is an exciting time of year, and we are thrilled to see your family soon enough!
Please read this newsletter and check out our website to support your family's launch of the new school year. I will have a few "Special Edition" newsletters specific to upcoming events to support communication and clarity, so please be sure to read those messages and encourage other families to do the same. If you have new neighbors, please share with them that it is time to enroll their future Titan(s), too. Thanks in advance for your support.

Interested in Walking Your Titan(s) to Their Classroom on the 1st Day of School?
As in the past, all visitors must check in at the front office and show their ID each time they enter the building. All visitors must wear a Raptor badge in a visible location upon entry.
In order to ensure the safest environment possible, WE REQUIRE ALL FAMILY MEMBERS TO SHOW ID AND WEAR A RAPTOR STICKER **If you are planning to walk your child to class on the first day you MUST present your ID. If you do not have one, or if you forgot your ID at home, you will not be allowed to enter the school building.
We understand this will create longer lines entering the school, however we ask for your patience and appreciate your kindness in order to ensure safety. Please respect that we are doing this to be as safe as possible to protect our students, staff, and families.
Here's what you need to know to make the process go as smoothly as possible:
- STEP 1: If you are a new family, or a family that did not attend an event last year, please stop by our office to scan your ID prior to the first day of school. Kindly let them know that you are here to have your ID scanned early in order to prepare for walking your child to class on the first day. You may stop by this week on
- Wednesday, August 7th - 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Thursday, August 8th - 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Friday, August 9th - 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.
- Monday, August 12th @ Open House - 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
- STEP 2: If you are a returning RPE family and you scanned your ID last year, you should still be in our system, but please feel free to stop by or call to check if you are unsure!
- STEP 3: Once you have come to the office to have your ID scanned into our system, complete the 1st Day of School RSVP so that we can prepare for your arrival to walk your child to their classroom on the 1st day. **If you complete this form by Monday, August 12th at 3:00PM, you can skip the scanning line and grab your badge off the wall on the way in the door. All parents who have an ID in our system and who RSVP will have a pre-printed badge ready to go in the morning on the 1st day.
- STEP 4: If you RSVP late, or do not have an ID in the system, you will need to wait in line to walk your child to class on the first day of school. Please note, this could be a lengthy wait, we will do the best we can to get you scanned in as quickly as possible.

Hi, I'm Melynda. I recently moved up here to the Austin area from Corpus and I graduated from Texas A&M - Kingsville with a BA in Psychology. I enjoy reading, playing video games, and spending time with my husband and our two dogs and I absolutely LOVE frogs and mushrooms. One of my favorite ways to de-stress is to spend some time on the trails around the area, but I also enjoy a good nap from time to time. I'm really excited to be able to get to know you and your children throughout the school year! I can't wait to meet you all!
Greetings to the Titan Team 2024-2025!
I’d like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself and tell you how excited I am to be a part of the River Place Elementary staff. My name is Roxanna Rushing, I’m a native Texan and country girl that is glad to be back in the heart of Texas.
Originally from the South Texas area, I was educated in San Antonio and began my career in healthcare in the early 1990s. Beginning as an EMT, I moved on to Vocational Nursing and finally RN. I graduated from the Baptist Healthcare System School of Nursing receiving both my LVN and RN licenses. In midst of that time I also obtained a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science from Angelo State University. Deciding only to pursue a further career in healthcare and caring for my family has spanned over 20 + years. As a result of many years in healthcare, I bring many versed skills and experiences to each patient I care for. I have worked in many areas including : ICU, Correctional Care, Home Care, Hospice, as well as School and Camp Nursing, and a few other areas I won’t bore you with.
When I’m not nursing, I’m usually traveling the backroads with my husband or we may be on one of the area lakes fishing. Taking photos of wildlife, cooking and gardening are my other passions. Because my daughter and son are now young adults, I now travel out of state to see them every chance I get.
I am proud to bring my knowledge and skill set to River Place Elementary. I will advocate and work as your community healthcare nurse with compassion and heart. It is my goal to have a healthy campus and create an environment full of successful outcomes for the children, parents, and staff members of our team. Communication is one key factor in that equation so do not hesitate to reach out as needed.
