A Friendly Reminder About Morning Drop-Off and Pick-Up Safety
At Eastview Elementary, the safety of our students and families is our top priority. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in making drop-off and pick-up times safe and efficient for everyone! As we start the new year, here are a few reminders to ensure smooth and safe routines:
Shortcut: You can shortcut waiting in the line of cars by parking in the parking lot and walking your child across the crosswalk. You must walk your child across the crosswalk as you are the best person to ensure they safely make it through the busy parking lot.
Handicap Parking Courtesy: Handicap spots are reserved for vehicles with proper designations.
Keep It Safe Inside: For everyone’s safety, students should remain seated and fully inside the vehicle while in motion.
Stick to the Path: Please follow all traffic patterns and avoid driving on sidewalks or other unintended areas, even during busy moments. Staying in line helps keep our students, families, and staff safe.
We understand mornings and afternoons can be busy, but your mindfulness during these times sets a great example for our students and helps us maintain a safe environment. Let’s work together to make each day start and end on a positive, safe note!
Thank you for your attention and cooperation. We’re so grateful for all you do to support our school community!
Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
Each December, second and fourth-grade students in Lakeville Area Schools are administered the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). This assessment differs from our FastBridge assessments as it measures a student’s ability to reason rather than a general outcome measure of grade-level expectations. When considered together, these tools help teachers differentiate instruction to meet students’ individual needs. Additionally, CogATs help identify students who may benefit from enrichment opportunities or those who may be underperforming.
Understanding CogAT scores can feel complex. Below are several helpful resources to assist you in interpreting CogAT data:
Where to find CogAT scores? – Directions for accessing the assessment tab in Infinite Campus.
Ability Profile Website – Input a student’s ability profile to learn more about their reasoning abilities.
Overview video – A general explanation of the CogAT assessment and how to read the student reports.
Activities to do at home – Ideas to build on a student’s strengths.
If you have further questions after exploring the linked resources, please feel free to reach out to the following individuals:

As we move into the winter months, we often see an increase in illnesses within the school community. Currently, there is a rise in gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses, including influenza, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia, and strep throat.
To help prevent the spread of illness, please keep your child home if they have experienced vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever in the last 24 hours. Students may return to school when:
Their illness has resolved or symptoms have significantly improved.
They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
The CDC also encourages taking additional precautions for 5 days after resuming normal activities to minimize the spread of illness. These strategies include improving air circulation, practicing good hygiene, wearing a well-fitting mask, maintaining distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses.
Please remember to promptly notify the school’s attendance office when your child is absent. Include the reason for the absence and any symptoms your child is experiencing. If your child is tested or tests positive for strep throat, influenza, pneumonia, or pertussis, please inform the school nurse. This information is kept confidential but is invaluable for monitoring illness trends and taking steps to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community healthy!

If you need to pick your child up before our end-of-the-day dismissal, we are asking you to do this before 3:30 p.m. Due to heavy volume in the front office, we cannot check out students from 3:30-3:55 p.m due to capacity. We made this change to ensure we get each child where they need to be. We appreciate you picking up your child before 3:30 p.m. or at dismissal.
