Library News
At Dayton City School, students participate in our school-wide reading incentive program, "The Millionaire's Club." The program encourages students to read as many words as possible during the school year, hopefully making it to 1 million words by May. Once they read 1 million words, they are recognized as being part of the Millionaire's Club! (Students in Kindergarten-2nd grade must read 250,000 words to be part of the Millionaire's Club.) Students take reading quizzes in Accelerated Reader and their progress is checked once a month. There are multiple word count goals that are set to help students work their way up to 1 million words throughout the year. Many students and parents have asked, and YES, students are able to take AR quizzes at home to help them reach reading goals! Students can visit the school website at www.daytoncity.net and click the STUDENTS tab; then select CLEVER LOGIN. Students can use the same Clever login information that they use at school to access Accelerated Reader. To take a reading quiz, students should click on the RENAISSANCE icon shown below; then they can search for the book title to complete their quiz.

Did you know that you can receive an email every time your child takes an Accelerated Reader quiz? When your child logs in to AR, scroll to the bottom of the page and on the left side you should see a button that says GET EMAIL UPDATES. Click the button and enter your information (it's free!) and you will receive an email each time your child takes an AR quiz so you can be aware of your child's progress.
If you have any questions about Millionaire's Club or Accelerated Reader, please reach out to me through email or the PBIS messaging tool.
