English Language Learner Program!
Our English Language Learners (ELL) have continued to make great progress in their English language lessons. We meet every day for half an hour to practice primarily the skills of speaking and listening. Students have also had some sessions in which they have practiced reading and writing. A writing technique that our students have learned is labeling pictures and/or drawing their own pictures before writing a sentence. For both speaking and writing practice, students are also given a variety of sentence stems, which they can complete with their own ideas. We are delighted to see how creative our ELL students are! One of the instructional methods that is used is game-based learning, which helps keep our students engaged and motivated. Please encourage your child to share what they have been learning with you and practice their English at home and at school.
Virtual Snow Days! ⛄
In case of a virtual snow day...
Your child should have brought home 3 different packets labeled "Snow Day 1, 2, and 3"
Each snow day your child will complete one packet. This packet NEEDS to come back on the next school day. This will count as your child's attendance for the snow day. If there is no packet, they will be marked absent.
More information: Click Here
(on the bottom of the page above there is a link to the kindergarten packet)
Your child's teacher will be available through email and talking points on virtual snow days if you have any questions.
**If a REAL snow day is called or a 2 hour delay, please do NOT do any work. Please play in the snow and enjoy a traditional snow day! 😀
What else can students work on at home?
Learn how to tie your shoes!
This is an important lifelong skill that kindergarteners need!
Read every night!
Check their folders!
Teachers send home folders every day with student work and important information. Checking it every day will keep you in the loop on what your child is learning.
