Wednesday Note

A Note from the Principal
Greetings, WPA Families,
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
We are excited to be celebrating our amazing teachers and staff this week. It is a great time to take a moment and send a note or email to your child's teacher letting them know how they have positively impacted your student (s) this year. Also, we want to send a huge thank you to our PTO for all the work they put into making teachers and staff feel valued this week.
Mark Your Calendar
Please take a moment to mark your calendar for these fun events.
Kindergarten Graduation: Wednesday, May 21st, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
6th Grade Graduation: Thursday, May 22nd, 5:00 p.m.
As space is limited, we ask that families limit attendance to two visitors for each student.
Family Survey
It's that time of year again, when we seek out parent feedback through our school survey. This survey helps us identify our strengths, measure things we focused on, celebrate successes, and identify areas to allocate time, focus, and resources for the upcoming year. If you have 10-20 minutes to help give us your feedback we appreciate it.
Did you know?
Niche, an independent company that ranks schools across the country ranks WPA as the number one charter elementary school in Davis County, 3rd in the Greater Salt Lake Area, and 14th for the state of Utah. We are proud of the hard work our teachers and students put into this accomplishment.
5th Grade Maturation
Each spring, we provide parents with access to the materials they need to discuss the growth and changes students’ bodies will go through as they move into puberty. Although these materials were originally intended to be covered in 5th grade, we recognize that students may mature at different rates, and it may be beneficial for some families to utilize them earlier or more than once, depending on their child’s needs. If you would like to share the videos with your child that are created by Davis School District to discuss with your child, you may find them here:

Attendance Reminder
Did you know that missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence—excused or unexcused—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school? Missing 10% of school days, just two days each month can significantly impact education. Our goal is for students to miss less than 10 days of school each year. You can check your student's attendance online through Aspire or by calling the front office.
Work Hand and Be Kind,
Amy Pilkington
