Magic School AI - April Recognition
April was another month where teachers continue to prove how magic they are! In our highest usage month since Magic School AI was introduced back in October, teachers generated 1,386 chats, texts, emails, lesson plans, and IEP language suggestions with AI as a thought partner. April was also our first full month with Magic Student AI available for student use. Students are using AI in a controlled environment to generate ideas, flesh out characters, create skits and even create code to produce their own custom chatbots. #studentsaremagic #teachersaremagic
Spring 2024 Keystone Exam Dates Grades 8-12

Do their best on the tests.
CENTENNIAL HIGHLIGHTS
ACADEMICS
Klinger Spanish Culture Class Journey
In Spanish Culture class, students embarked on a journey learning the history of the piñata and the significance of Cinco de Mayo. Through collaborative efforts they engaged in lively discussions and hands-on activities, they planned, executed, and at times, had to restart their piñata projects. The class celebrated their hard work while savoring the flavors of beef and chicken pastelillos (empanadas), and indulging in creamy tembleque (coconut pudding.) Most importantly during the last few weeks, new bonds were formed through shared experiences and the joy of learning.
Log College Achievement Breakfast
Log College held its quarterly Achievement Breakfast this week. Students are nominated by their teachers for achievement, improvement, or for making Log College a better place. Congrats and keep up the good work!
Willow Dale Silver Spoon Award
Congratulations to Mrs. Kohler and Mrs. Dovidio's class on winning the Silver Spoon Award. One of our initiatives through Schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) is positive behavior in the lunchroom. Mrs. Kohler and Mrs. Dovidio's class showed their PAWSOME behavior for the month of March . They were awarded a special table set up, lunch served by Mrs. Rindone, and a HUGE Silver Spoon to be held in the class until the next winner is announced at the end of April.
Klinger Academic Collaboration
In Mr. Fischer's 7th-grade film class, students embarked on an engaging project exploring the seven forms of advertising. Guided by Mr. Fischer, they learned to recognize techniques such as emotional appeal and bandwagon persuasion. Divided into groups, they created their own commercials, employing these strategies with creativity and enthusiasm.
Their journey didn't end there. In Mrs. Reid's English/Language Arts class, they furthered their understanding of advertising by analyzing commercials and discussing their impact. The students read and analyzed several articles regarding marketing/advertising. Finally, the students wrote an informational essay that explains the role of advertising in young people's lives. Through this interdisciplinary approach, students developed critical thinking skills and media literacy.
This project not only enhanced their understanding of advertising but also empowered them to navigate media messages effectively. As they showcased their projects and shared insights, it became evident that they were equipped with valuable skills for the modern world. This immersive learning experience exemplifies our commitment to providing students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success.
District Family Event - A Parent's Guide to Phonics
Families gathered at our recent event, "A Parent's Guide to Phonics," for an evening of learning and fun. Each family received a free copy of the book A Parent's Guide to Phonics: Understanding How to Help Your Child with Reading and Spelling. Teachers from all three elementary schools hosted interactive stations based on different chapters of the book. From phonemic awareness games to decoding exercises, parents explored practical strategies to support their child's literacy journey at home. Students raved, "It was awesome!" while parents echoed, "It was so great. I enjoyed everything about it. It was very helpful and informative." After the activities, everyone enjoyed pizza together, strengthening our sense of community. We extend our gratitude to all involved in making this event a success. Together, we continue to empower families in fostering a love of reading and learning in our students.
Middle School Steam Boat Challenge at Craven Hall
In the late 1700's, John Fitch developed the steam boat right here in this area! Thanks to the generosity of the Centennial Education Foundation, students in the STEM classes at Klinger and Log College designed and built steam boats, much like John Fitch. Each year both schools enter into friendly competition at a field trip to Craven Hall and the John Fitch Museum. This year, they received a demonstration on steam from Mr. McGuire from the Johnsville Centrifuge and Science Museum. Each school brought students and 7 boats for a best of 7 championship. Despite the windy conditions, Klinger's students won the Steam Boat Challenge for the second year in a row! Afterwards, students enjoyed pizza courtesy of the Craven Hall Historical Society and explored the house and its history. The student's boats will eventually become part of a museum exhibit for the next year.

THE ARTS
William Tennent Fine and Culinary Arts Showcase
On Friday May 3, 2024, Centennial Community members stepped into the vibrant world of the William Tennent High School Fine and Culinary Arts Showcase, where creativity knows no bounds and talent shines bright. With over 2000 attendees filling the corridors, families and friends gathered to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of kindergarten through twelfth-grade fine artists.
More than 30 culinary students volunteered their time to craft and share gourmet dishes, tantalizing the community's taste buds with their culinary expertise. As the clock struck 7 pm and the show officially opened its doors, the elementary and middle school exhibitions became a hub of excitement, flooded with young artists proudly displaying their masterpieces alongside their countless admirers. “There’s mine” could almost be heard in unison, as young artists pointed to portraits, paintings and sculptures. The universal sense of accomplishment was palpable and inspiring.
A cornerstone of the event, the 39-strong senior wall exhibition, commanded attention with its impressive display of skill and creativity, offering a glimpse into the future of the artistic world. Meanwhile, the hundreds of William Tennent 9-12 grade artists showcased their upcoming brilliance, each piece telling a unique story and captivating the imagination of all who beheld them.
From the strokes of a paintbrush to the sizzle of a skillet, the William Tennent Fine and Culinary Arts Showcase was a testament to the power of creativity and the boundless potential of young creatives. The K-12 Fine Art and FCS teachers could not be more proud of the efforts and accomplishments of all our students.
Log College Shined at the Fine and Culinary Arts Showcase
Their artwork was front and center, stealing the spotlight with their amazing colors and cool designs. From paintings to sculptures, they were amazing with their creativity. It was so wonderful to see our students shine like that!
Log College's Spring Instrumental Concert
Log College's students captivated audiences with a dazzling display of musical talent at this year's Spring Musical. From the graceful melodies of string ensembles to the dynamic rhythms of percussion, every performance was a testament to the dedication and skill of our young musicians.
William Tennent Choirs Sang National Anthem
The Combined Select Choirs from William Tennent HS, under the direction of Mr. Keith Abrahamson, sang the National Anthem at the Phillies game on Monday night. They were amazing! See the video below if you missed the performance!
Willow Dale Starbucks Art Show
Willow Dale students were selected to have an art show at Starbucks during the month of May.
Starbucks located at York Road/ Street Road is filled with masterpieces created by students in grades K-5. 175 students have their works of art on display inside of Starbucks. The students of Willow Dale have worked very hard on their masterpieces, spending multiple art classes and lots of different art supplies to create their works of art that were facilitated by art(ist) educator, Mrs. Autumn Dow.
Kindergarten students created mixed media works of art inspired by Andy Warhol and his printmaking techniques. Students used paint to stamp backgrounds, relief printmaking, and oil pastels to create flowers, and also colored glue for outlines.
1st graders created mixed media sloths using drawing and painting supplies. Students used drawing supplies to create their sloths and then paint/ paint sticks to create their backgrounds. Students learned about sloths and their habitats to inspire their works of art.
2nd graders created mixed media hearts and stars inspired by Peter Max as well as spring-inspired flower paintings using different painting supplies including tempera paint, paint sticks, and paint pens. Students focused on lines, shapes, and patterns in their works of art,
3rd graders created space collages using a variety of materials inspired by artist Alma Thomas. Students used tempera cakes and cut papers glued in mosaic patterns for their backgrounds. Students designed a metal-tooled aluminum rocket ship with sprayed paint and tissue paper streamers.
4th graders focused on using one-point perspective to create aquarium tunnels with the wax resist method. Students used rulers and different line directions to create their aquariums using a vanishing point in the middle of their papers. Students focused on the art element of space to create depth in their works of art.
5th graders created paintbrush drawings/paintings inspired by artist Jim Dine. Students used a variety of paintbrushes to create their compositions that focused on drawing the realistic details and shadows created by the paintbrushes. Students used watercolor paints to add color and splatters in the style of Jim Dine.
Be sure to stop by to check out the art on display up close! We are so excited to share art with the local community! The art will be on display until the end of May.
Remember that the eARTh without ART would just be 'eh'. Keep creating!
