NAEP testing on Tuesday
Our school was randomly chosen for NAEP testing for random 8th graders. We tried to get off the hook, but it didn't work. There will be visitors the day off monitoring how the testing process goes gaining feedback for improvement. All testing will be done in the media center. The hallway in front of the media center will be blocked off for this purpose. Also, Ms. Wagner will be handing out rosters to teachers tomorrow regarding who needs to go to the media center and when. Thank you for your flexibility and patience!
Spirit Week Incentives (from Ms. Hatley)
Each day in homeroom, please take a picture of the student who has the MOST spirit in your class. Then, email that picture to me! (You can email it to just me! There’s no need for a reply all!) At the end of each day, ONE winner will be selected from each grade level. Those winners will receive a small prize the next day. However, they will also get to participate in our pep rally on Friday, which is when we need your help!
We need 3-4 teacher volunteers to agree to participate in a “Pie in the Face” game. At the end of the pep rally, students from each grade level who won the spirit week days will come down and try to pie a teacher or administrator in the face. If you would be willing to participate in this reward, please let me know! For your troubles, there will be a small gift of appreciation and jeans passes given
Also, to show appreciation for staff members who participate, we also have an incentive! All staff members who participate in spirit week can send me a picture of their spirit! The staff member with the most spirit each day will get to pie one of our administrators in the face during the pep rally-and who wouldn’t get excited about that?!
Finally, we will have some games during the pep rally that need teacher participation. If you would be interested in participating in one of the games during the pep rally OR the Pie in the Face game, please let me know as soon as possible!
If you have questions about any of the information above, please let me know! Thank you so much for being willing to participate, supporting STUCO, and encouraging all students to get excited about spirit week! We appreciate you!!
Please nominate a colleague!!! Faculty meeting coming in a week!

General Info
IB Updates
With the new semester starting, perhaps it is a good time to refresh kids on IB Learner Profile Traits! Try an interactive discussion, artistic creation, or research to make these traits relevant and help students strive to embody them.
Design teachers, please remember to take pictures of your finished design projects for the digital Design Expo at the end of the year.
Our 8th graders are working hard on their Community Projects in their ELA classes! If you teach 8th graders, please ask them what they have chosen and how they will be serving the community. They have chosen a wide variety of projects: canned food drives, blanket making, kindness campaign, teaching at an elementary school, website creation for awareness, etc.
Save the Date: August 5-7
As shared with you already, please reserve on your calendars August 5, 6, 7 for our summer professional development on IB unit plans, MTSS, and PBIS. If you do not already have plans, it's essential you be present. As occurred last year, every staff member will be granted a day of flex time per day you attend, and this gives us the opportunity as a school to use more than 5 days of flex time toward any uncapped workday in the next school calendar year. This is a fun privilege we can exercise through our "calendar flexibility" as a restart school (which is a public school with charter like flexibility).
