Mar Vista Parent Newsletter
Week of October 19, 2020
Dear Families,
Hello Mar Vista Families,
I'd like to express my gratitude for the many of you who've kept an open dialogue with your children's teachers about their academic and social-emotional needs. The home-school communication is the key to our ongoing progress toward maximizing learning in our unique online environment and also the key to your child's success. We wish to continue that dialogue and make tweaks where needed or bring on the many supports available through our district and local community. Thanks again for working with us!
Please find updated information below and as always, feel free to reach out with questions.
Thank you!
Stephanie Monroe
Mr. J's Academic Coordinator Update
As many of you may remember, we embarked on the Great Kindness Challenge as a school last year. We loved what we saw and are launching into the first week of our Virtual Great Kindness Challenge this year. With the student council taking a lead on this, we are all excited to see many of the great ideas they come up with.
This week's challenge, which you will also see in their video, is to show our thanks to the essential workers. This can be in the form of letters, signs in your front yard, or posters brought to Mar Vista during Monday distribution which we will display for everyone to see! We also have daily kind acts that students can select from each day: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k0kD5TX1OS8sApoYotLo8f8l9Vs-QhQr/view?usp=sharing
Thank you for your help in spreading kindness to those around us. This is another component of maintaining connection and community during distance learning!
Danny
