Thankfulness November 2024
Work, Integrate, Resources, Employment
Gratitude
"Even though thankfulness is a noun, its meaning encompasses much more than simply identifying the things you are thankful for. Thankfulness also involves action. How do you show gratitude?
- Verbalize It – Keeping your thankful thoughts to yourself is like buying a present for someone but never giving it. If you are generous with your genuine words of appreciation, you’ll be surprised by how good it makes you feel and how well it is received. And try to go beyond the simple “thank you.” Instead, be specific about what they’ve done that you’re thankful for.
- Show It – To go even farther, try doing something to show your gratitude. Send a card for no other reason than to express your appreciation for an everyday thing someone does to make your life better. This is especially impactful for those who often go unrecognized.
- Serve – There is no shortage of those in need, so put the gratitude you feel for your blessed life into action by serving someone less fortunate.
Need some inspiration to help you become more grateful? Here is a quote to spur your '“attitude of gratitude.”'
“'Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: It must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all.”' — William Faulkner

WLTX Teach of the Week!
CTE teachers form a relationship with their students as they progress through the CTE programs. Mr. Thompson connects with his students and connects students with local welding industry employers. Students getting hired is the greatest reward for CTE Teachers. The next best thing is when former students reach out to share the news of getting hired and excited to be working in the industry. Successfully employed former students visiting current CTE classes and sharing their work experience and what it means to be successfully employed resonates with their younger peers. This time a successfully employed former student, Chad Dulinsky, went a step further to show Mr. Thompson, he is grateful for the lessons learned in L2IC Welding CTE program by nominating him for WLTX Teacher of the Week.
We are grateful for Mr. Thompson and all the L2IC CTE Teachers!

Advantages of Work-Based Learning
- Real world of work. Students in work-based learning CTE programs at L2IC develop skills that employers are seeking. These are industry specific skills that cannot be learned in standard classroom settings. These include technical skills, professional skills or soft skills for successful employability, and an understanding of workplace expectations.
- Work experience with specific industries. Work-based learning provides students an opportunity to dive into a particular field or job and interact with established professionals who have worked in the industry as an industry professional career with master skills levels. This type of experience helps young adults make decisions about their long-term career goals.
- Connects CTE classroom to real-world of work. In work-based learning programs, students can apply the lessons learned in the classroom to real-world situations. Young adults are more likely to master and retain knowledge, and able to demonstrate new skills with confidence.
- Paying job that may become permanent. In some work-based learning programs, such as apprenticeships, participants work in paid jobs that may even lead to full-time positions.
