Last Week's Attendance
Parents,
We saw a major DECLINE in last week's attendance percentage. In speaking with parents lots of students are out due to having pneumonia. Although, being in school is VERY important, it is equally important that your child is healthy.
It is important to practice good health hygiene:
1. Wash Hands frequently
2. Covering nose/mouth when sneezing or coughing
3. Cleaning surfaces (we are doing this more frequently at school)
4. Stay hydrated
5. AVOID Sharing personal items (Lip gloss, water bottles, food, etc)
6. STAY HOME WHEN SICK
Don't forget that when your child is sick or out to bring in a note within 3 days of their return to school.
AI Chatbots
Technology can be a beautiful thing. It has enhanced so many things around us, but technology when used inappropriately can cause harm. Chatbots are becoming popular amongst teen and if you are like me, you have no clue what a chatbot is!
A chatbot is a computer program that simulates human conversation with an end user (your child). Not all chatbots are equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), but modern chatbots increasingly use conversational AI techniques such as natural language processing (NLP) to understand user questions and automate responses to them.
As your child's principal, I am not pushing any agenda's but I want to make all parents and guardians aware of what is out there and what your child may being doing in their spare time. A quick google search will provide you with more information and the variety of chatbot options. It is essential that we keep each other informed through these middle school years. I am NO chatbot expert, but I did learn about them this weekend and thought I would share.
