A Message from the Board President

Dear PYLUSD Community,

On behalf of the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District (PYLUSD) Board of Education, I would like to share some important news regarding a leadership transition in our district.

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss submitted his resignation, upon being appointed as Superintendent of the Beverly Hills Unified School District, at their Regular Meeting of the Board of Education on the same date. All the best to Dr. Cherniss in his new role.

Please be assured that the Board of Education is fully committed to a smooth transition. At our upcoming board meeting on April 22, 2025, we will discuss and take action on the process for finding Dr. Cherniss' successor. For the time being, Dr. Allan Mucerino will continue to serve in his role as Acting Superintendent.

The Board of Education is confident that we will find the right person to build upon the strong foundation in PYLUSD and guide it forward with integrity, vision, and a deep commitment to student success.
