Service Opportunities & News from the Richter Center
Fair Brings Over 50 Service Agencies to Campus
The Richter Center hosts the 11th annual Spring Community Service Opportunities Fair on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Satellite Student Union. The Richter Center Ambassadors will be on site with their Picture the Change campaign and Fresno State Alternative Spring Break will be available to provide information about this year's project.
Over 50 community benefit organizations will share information about volunteer opportunities, service-learning, and internships. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the fair and "shop" for the service experience that best matches their interests. The fair is a great way for students to learn about various community issues, how those issues are being addressed, and ways individual volunteers can be involved.
For more information please contact Renee Delport at 278-7079.
Kids Day is Tuesday, March 4th
Kids Day is one of the valley’s largest and most visible special events to benefit Children’s Hospital Central California. Thousands of volunteers throughout the valley help by selling a special “Kids Day” edition of the Fresno Bee for one-dollar. Last year over 1,200 Fresno State students, faculty, and staff helped to do their part by raising more than $37,000! Since its beginning, Kids Day has raised over $4 million for Children's Hospital Central California.
Please join us to help the children and families that are served by the hospital. Faculty, students and staff can help in three ways: (1) volunteer to sell papers, (2) help recruit other volunteers by sharing information on this event with friends, students and colleagues and (3) buy the papers from those around campus!
For more information and to register to participate please contact Renee Delport in the Richter Center at 559.278.7063 or by email to rdelport@csufresno.edu.
We look forward to your support on Tuesday, March 4th!
Words of Inspiration
The quote for today's Epicenter helps us celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It reminds us of how we are all interconnected and how, by serving one another, we can strengthen the ties of community.
Strangely enough, I cannot be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be.
