Yearbooks Distributed Hopefully Next Tuesday
We opened the yearbook boxes from Shutterfly and they never sorted the yearbooks or the extra items that parents can order. It's a mess.
We are in contact with Lifetouch and will send a Parent Email on Monday about the new distribution of the student yearbooks...which will likely be Tuesday.
Extras will go on sale Wednesday morning, June 5th.
School Library Books Due Back
All school library books are due back to the library as soon as possible. If books are lost they can be paid for by exact cash (we are unable to make change) or by check. Checks should be made payable to "Lester Park Elementary School" and should reference "student name, lost book." Contact the librarian for cost information. anna.rose@isd709.org
Students are encouraged to join the Duluth Public Library Reading Program at duluthlibrary.org. All ISD 709 students have access to Duluth Public Library's large selection of eBooks and Audiobooks through the Duluth Public Library's Portcards Program. Please contact the school librarian for more information. anna.rose@isd709.org.
Please note that lost library book fees follow students all the way to high school. For many years now, Seniors who have library fees or other lost book fees will not receive tickets to the graduation.
Paw Award Assembly Friday, May 31
The Paw Award Assembly is a celebration at the end of each semester to celebrate PAWsitive behavior and expectations. Each classroom teacher, specialists, monitors, and support staff get to select one student who has exemplified what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind here at Lester Park. We diligently select students to minimize overlap and maximize representation of all students.
Parents of the recipients will be contacted by our principal, Anna Cawcutt to attend the assembly as a surprise to their student.
Moving forward we will celebrate quarterly to recognize more of our PAWsome Lester Park Labs!
If you have any questions or concerns please contact our PBIS (positive behavioral interventions & supports) coordinator- Jordan Fleek, jordan.fleek@isd709.org, 336-8875 x3165
❗ Please have children to school on time on Friday ❗
PAW Assembly is 8-8:25am
Please have your child(ren) to school on time on Friday. This way they can go with their classroom to the assembly. Late children may end up sitting in the back of the gym or in the office. If you need to pick up your child, please wait until after 8:30. Thank you for understanding.
Lunch Menu Change
There is a lunch menu change for Friday, May 31. We will have Sloppy Joes instead of Fish Nuggets.
Be watching for other possible lunch menu changes, especially the last week of school.

Social Studies Feedback Survey
Duluth Public Schools' Social Studies Curriculum Committees are in the process of reviewing the current social studies curriculum in order to meet the 2021 Minnesota K-12 Social Studies Standards to be implemented during the 2026-2027 school year. To aid in this process, they are looking for feedback on the social studies curriculum from families and community members . If you are a district family member or community member, we would appreciate it if you took a moment to provide any feedback on the curriculum using this link. The survey will be open until June 15th. Thank you in advance!
