Juneteenth Holiday
Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a powerful reminder of resilience, justice, and the ongoing journey toward equity and inclusion.
As a district committed to learning and growth, we honor this important day by reflecting on our shared history and reaffirming our dedication to building a more inclusive future for all. All District 196 buildings and programs will be closed June 19.
AVHS Playhouse Auction
Students from our Woods, Interior Design, and Fabrication Lab classes collaborated to create a fantastic kids’ playhouse. The playhouse is being auctioned to generate funds so they can repeat this cool project next year.

Congratulations Aniya Bostick: Spotlight Finalist
Members of Apple Valley High School's 2024 SISTER ACT production had the privilege of performing at the State Theater on Monday, June 9th through the honors they received for their production. We were so glad to share the evening with many other talented schools and the amazing staff and spotlight volunteers at the event.
Our very own Delores Van Cartier aka THE Aniya Bostick was a Triple Threat Finalist. Because of her hard work, kindness, dedication, AND TALENT, she was selected as one of the recipients of the 2025 Triple Threat New York Experience.
The Triple Threat New York Experience is an all-expenses paid trip to New York City, where young artists attend Broadway shows, meet with industry professionals and participate in workshops. After rehearsals, coaching sessions and performing at Spotlight Showcase, four (4) of the 24 Triple Threat students are awarded the Triple Threat New York Experience, fueled by Sun Country Airlines. Aniya is one of the four.
Congratulations to Aniya and the Sister Act Company. We are so proud of you!
