We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
A Happy New Year to each of you. I pray that this year brings many blessings for you, your families, and Fr. Doyle School!
As always - it's a busy time of year at Fr. Doyle! How blessed we are to be members of such a vibrant school and parish community. Please be sure to review the following announcements and the remainder of our Newsletter below:
Fr. Doyle School is looking to participate in the First Lego League Junior Expo in March...
...but we can't do it without your help! We are currently looking for volunteers to coach Lego League Jr. team(s). A First Lego League (FLL) Junior team is made up of 4-6 students ages 6-10. Teams meet once per week for 1-2 hours to prepare their projects for the FLL Junior Expo. This year, teams will be using pre-ordered Lego robotics kits to build safe, happy, and healthy communities. Entries are then judged at the expo. Coaches do not need any robotics, computer, or engineering experience, and scheduling can be flexible. If you would be interested in coaching, please contact Mr. Peloquin! You can find more information about FLL Junior here.
Fr. Doyle School is Singing at the P-Bruins!
Our students will be singing America the Beautiful at the Providence Bruins game on Sunday, January 12th. You can purchase tickets for the game by following the link here. If your child is interested in singing with our choir, you can email Mrs. Skidds for more information. The puck drops at 3:05pm!

In order to continue to share the great things happening at Fr. Doyle, we have opened an Instagram account. You can now follow us at www.instagram.com/fjvdsaints! Please give us a follow to receive a first-hand account of life at FJVD!
Lastly, all parents are invited to join me for Breakfast with the Principal on Thursday morning, January 9th beginning at 7:30am. Please RSVP by responding to the survey here. I look forward to our conversation!
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend!

Silent/Live Auction - Calypso Night!
The Nurse's Corner
Important Reminders for the Winter Season:
- Please call the school when your child is absent and let us know the reason. Please call rather than emailing the classroom teacher, as this allows us to keep up to date attendance. This let's us know your child is safe at home with you. In addition, if your child has an illness that is contagious, such as strep throat, it is important that we are able to notify other parents that their child may have been exposed to an illness and to watch for signs & symptoms.
- Now that the COLD weather has arrived, please ensure your child has appropriate cold weather attire (i.e. hats, mittens). So long as the temperature is considered safe, students will go outside for recess to get fresh air and play. The RI Department of Education states that outdoor recess should be 15-20 minutes (1-2 times a day) outside as long as the temperature is 32 degrees or above with the wind chill factored in.

Green Bins help our school!
Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up
Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
