A note from Principal Dan Radicia
Elkhorn North High School Parents,
We are excited to welcome students back to ENHS for the 2024-2025 school year. I want to begin by thanking our parents for their continued partnership in helping our students successfully navigate the challenges presented to them in high school.
We hope to see as many students as possible at the open house this Thursday, August 1, from
12:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Families received an email from the district with instructions for how to complete back to school registration for PowerSchool and activities. Please follow those instructions and have your student’s information updated on PS to help ensure we are ready to support them when they return to school. Electronic forms have been accessible since Monday, July 29, 2024.
Online Registration
EPS utilizes an online registration system for parents of returning students to update information and complete all required Back-to-School registration information. To use this feature, parents/guardians will access their PowerSchool parent account. If you do not have a parent PowerSchool account, instructions for creating one can be found at: https://bit.ly/EPSps1. On Monday, July 29, 2024, you received an email from PowerSchool alerting you to the opening of the Online Registration process. If you are unable to access your PowerSchool parent account or did not receive the email on July 29, please contact ENHS for assistance, 402-289-0322.
EPS and Elkhorn North High School Need Teacher Assistants
The Elkhorn Public Schools are in need of Teachers’ Assistants, and often some of our very best are parents in the community. If interested, please consider APPLYING HERE! We have openings in the elementary, middle and high school settings. These positions are invaluable to our student body, and TA’s are welcome members of any EPS school team. They are part time positions - usually 32.5 hours per week - a great opportunity if you’ve been thinking about a change.
New Families to EPS and Elkhorn North High School already Registered
The back to school online registration is for existing families to update the registration process. All new families have already registered their students to the school; therefore, new families do not have to register again online because you completed the process already when you registered as a new family.
The High School Experience
For our first time high school parents sending their oldest and/or only child to high school, our educators are student centered, thoughtful, compassionate, warm demanders who want the diploma to represent the interaction of content knowledge with critical thinking and problem solving skills while developing the best version of themselves. The high school experience is a four year microcosm of the lived experience which has the ability to launch the trajectory of a child’s arc for life. We receive our mission with optimism that your student’s experience will prepare him/her for the future story that is being written.
We will celebrate the joys and successes of achievements and help frame the disappointments and the struggles of failure. We can help frame that there is struggle before growth and any meaningful achievement comes from sacrifice. In order to fully appreciate the euphoria of success, one must understand the measures of falling short. As a parent, I incorrectly wanted to protect my children from disappointments but I have come to believe that the struggle is part of thriving towards who we become. We set high expectations for ourselves and for our students because we know they are capable of achieving success with support and encouragement along the way.
Senior parents, you and your student face more uncertainty this year because their world is opening up to decisions that have long term ramifications. They are about to step through the doors with you standing behind them. We can help you navigate through the decisions your senior will be making. Your influence, words, patience and guidance will be needed as your senior begins to explore options and opportunities. It will not be long before we meet for a graduation ceremony in May of 2025. Enjoy this time.

Cell Phone Expectations
As was shared with all families in an email from Elkhorn Public Schools on July 24, updated cell phone expectations will be implemented at all EPS schools for the 2024-25 school year. Links to our student handbook and the EPS email that was sent to families can be found below.
2024-25 High School Student Handbook -- Cell Phone Policy found on Page 7
Elkhorn Public Schools Email sent to all EPS Families on July 24, 2024
Please take a moment ahead of the first day of school to review the updated expectations as outlined in the handbook, and discuss them with your student.
EPS Mass Messaging System
EPS and individual buildings use a parent messaging system called SchoolMessenger to send emails, phone calls, and text messages to parents sharing district information, monthly updates about building happenings, and weather-related school closings. To ensure receipt of these updates, please verify that all contact information listed in your parent PowerSchool account, including phone numbers and email addresses, is up to date and correct.
Additionally, this system allows recipients to “unsubscribe” from its mailing list; however, by “unsubscribing” you are completely removing your email address and phone number from both District and building lists. If you choose to unsubscribe, you will not receive any communication from your child’s assigned school or the EPS District. If you accidentally unsubscribe or decide you would like to begin receiving emails again after unsubscribing, contact your building secretary to change your communication status.
EPS Text Messages
To receive EPS text messages, please text “Yes” to 67587 to opt in.
Student Absences
Student absences & appointments ~
A parent or guardian must notify the office via telephone (402.289.0322) of any absences and/or appointments for your student(s). We do not accept emails.
If your student will be leaving during the school day, the sooner you communicate that to the office, the easier it will be to get a pass to your student, rather than having to call the classroom and interrupt valuable learning time. If your student is leaving between passing periods, they will not receive a pass, they just need to go to the office to sign out.
If your student is absent for a doctor, dental or counseling appointment, please have your student bring a note from the provider to turn into the school office. We will keep that on file for attendance purposes.
Parents are not required to come into the building to get their student. The office staff will verify the student has been called out, and the student will sign themselves out on the computer in the office and they will meet you at your car or drive themselves to where they need to go.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
