Important Halloween Updates
Dear Families-
Dewey has many special traditions that take place each school year. Last week we shared that students will be allowed to wear costumes, but that we would not be having the annual parade. After receiving feedback from our school community, I realize that I may have acted too quickly in suspending this annual tradition. Community collaboration is another important part of our school culture. Because of this, we have decided to hold the Halloween parade on Thursday from 9:45-10:05 on the blacktop.
We are committed to the ongoing partnership between school and home to create inclusive learning and enrichment activities for all of our students and staff.
Warmest regards,
Sabrina Parsley, Principal
Correction!
Last week's PFO Newsletter should have given a shout out to McCulloch's class as the winner of the scarecrow contest!

Dewey Jog-Walk-Run-A-Thon
Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in this year's jog-a-thon! And a huge thank you for the generous donations that have started coming in.
Please have your child turn in all pledge monies to the office by November 1st. All proceeds from this event will support our school. Thank you Dewey families!
Seasonal Reminder!
We encourage healthy snacks during the school day and sweets in small quantities. Dewey has a "no-sharing food" rule to help ensure safety and respect for individual dietary needs.
The Harry Dewey School Library is a fantastic hub for knowledge and exploration! We are so excited to see our student actively using the online catalog to research topics they love. Have you checked it out together yet? Explore here: https://dewey.sanjuan.edu/academics/library

Dewey Maker Lab
It’s back! This year, half of the school will come weekly for the first half of the year, then the other half of the school will come weekly the 2nd half of the year. Don’t worry if your child doesn’t start next week- everyone will have equal opportunity to DESIGN, BUILD, and CREATE in the Maker Lab.
The Maker Lab runs on your donations. There is a box for all donations in the office hallway. All cardboard tubes, craft supplies, duct tape, etc. are appreciated. Don’t keep google eyes around your house, but you still want to give? There is an Amazon Wish List: Dewey Maker Lab Wish List
Right now, the Maker Lab is needing your Hex Bugs that are no longer being played with. Give the bugs a second life, give them to the Maker Lab.
