The Hive
September 15th
Happy Friday!
We had our first full week of school and while it was really warm this week, we had a great time! We hope your students are coming home happy and telling you about all the awesome things going on at HMS. We are really working hard to build our community here and that starts with being visible and getting to know students.
We encourage you to please follow our Facebook page. We have been trying to post one thing each day to give a glimpse inside a school day. It has been so fun interacting with families and our community. We hope some of our posts are making you laugh!
Have the BEST weekend! See everyone Monday!
With kindness,

Athletic Director's Corner
What a week it has been in HMS athletics. Both of our athletic programs hosted home events this week and we want to thank all of our families who came out to support and even volunteer at those events!
Our volleyball program got off to a roaring start on Monday with a 7th grade volleyball game in a packed gym that went to a deciding game 3 against King’s Way. Throughout the evening the cheers echoed throughout the entire building as all 4 teams battled for every point. In both our matches this week we have seen tremendous improvement from all 4 of our teams and throughout the entire program.
Our cross country program hosted their only home meet this season against Washougal on Wednesday and ran a great race. Tavin T dominated the boys race running the 2 mile course in a time of 11:19. Our boys team ran extremely well with 7 runners in the top 10 and won the overall meet against Washougal. On the girls side our small but mighty team competed really well against a very large Washougal cross country program. Kayla came in 2nd overall with a time of 15:24 and all 4 girls ran a great race.
Next week both Hornet athletic programs will be back in action throughout the week. Volleyball will be on the road on Monday at Jemtegaard then hosting La Center on Wednesday. Our cross country team will be in Kalama on Thursday. We hope to continue to grow the support as this season continues and into the upcoming seasons.
