6th-Grades Rockstars
To start the year, the sixth graders are already presenting at the front of the room and reading aloud to their peers. Sometimes student voices can be too low to follow along, so we’ve implemented the use of the classroom microphone. Students are motivated to volunteer when they get to feel like Beyonce! Anthony L., featured in the included photo, brought the stage presence when he volunteered to read aloud during social studies. Hearing his own voices amplified in the room brought forward more confidence. Plus, this encouraged his peers to volunteer themselves. When we feel powerful in the classroom, we are more confident in our own education! The sixth graders are looking forward to channeling their own Beyonce persona with future read aloud opportunities this school year.
Skating Party on Monday
The MTPC is hosting a skating party at The Great Skate on Monday, September 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM.
$6 admission with skates included; $5 extra for inline skates
STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
PBIS BEHAVIOR TRAINING
As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions & Support (PBIS) initiative we want to ensure all students are aware of behavior expectations throughout the building. Last Thursday staff members shared expectations for areas such as the hallways, cafeteria, library, office, and playground with all K-6 students. Afterwards, contracts were sent home to be reviewed with families. Parents were asked to return contracts and students retuning them were rewarded with ROCKStar tickets. We appreciate ALL of our families partnering with us to ensure a safe school environment. Thank you!
SCHOOL PICTURE DAY
School picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th. All students will be photographed. Families wishing to order pictures in advance may do so by visiting the website and using the information below. Picture retakes will occur on November 4th.

Dogs on the Property
Just a reminder that dogs are not allowed on the school grounds. Not all students are comfortable with pets and we want to ensure safety for all. Thank you for your help with this!
Health Guidance for Going to School
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students.
Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate.
We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses

Hot Food Deliveries
The District does not allow the delivery of food and beverages from outside vendors or fast food establishments for a student’s breakfast or lunch meal. All meals are to be provided by either our Food Service program or prepared at home and sent with your student. Outside food delivery is a safety concern. We do not want to have strangers and people that we do not know coming to our buildings with delivery bags. It also is a workload issue for office personnel. Managing multiple food deliveries during lunch time becomes an additional responsibility for our office staff. The District works hard to provide a variety of healthy, good-tasting food in its cafeterias, and students are always free to bring their own lunch to school. We will continue to follow our past practice of making sure students receive lunch if they forget to bring one from home.
Free Breakfast & Lunch
The State of Michigan will provide a free breakfast and lunch for all students who want them throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Although not required, we do ask that families complete the Education Benefit Form located HERE. By doing so you help ensure the school receives additional funding.
