Cypress Springs High School
December 2024
Dear Cypress Springs Families,
We are so excited to close out another great semester at Cypress Springs High School. As usual, our scholars have outdone themselves. Our DECA Team brought home medals in their academic competition, our robotics students (HUNCH and ARC) are finalists at FIRST Robotics and NASA, our football team advanced to the playoffs, we have 12 Academic All State Athletes, 10 athletes have already committed to play at the college level, we have 2 Questbridge Match Scholars (full ride to IVY League), our girls basketball and boys basketball teams are currently Number One in our district, we have student artwork on display at the MHAB, and we have had multiple coaches and student athletes recognized as athlete or coach of the week by Dave Campbell, Kroger and the Texans.
We have Three (3) National Merit Commended Scholars and 22 National Achievement Scholars who will all be recognized next month at the Berry Center. Our huge accomplishment is having our attendance up by 1.5 percent over this time last year!! Cypress Springs, we have so much to be proud of!!!
We have so many great things happening at our campus - it is important for us - as a school community to not allow the negative noise (because that is what it is) to drown out the great accomplishments of our scholars. Please help me to support your scholars by reminding them to focus on the positive, and drown out the negative. If you make resolutions, let's all resolve to make our school community known for the positive aspects - there are many positives we can share .. all of us are responsible and in charge of the narrative for our school.
We wish you all a safe, happy, prosperous holiday season!!
Be a Blessing!
Dr. Cheryl T. Henry
Principal

Alumni Spotlight - Meet
Alumni Spotlight - Mr. Edwin Maxcy, Class of 2018
Meet Mr. Maxcy, CTE Automotive Teacher.
Mr. Maxcy has worked at Cypress Springs since the 2022-23 school year. Read below to see what he has to say about his journey to becoming a teacher.
I am a proud alumni of Cypress Springs High School class of 2018. Cypress Springs equipped me with the tools I needed to reach my goal in becoming a teacher. I learned from a young age that life is not fair and that you will have to be resilient to keep moving through. Once graduated I continued my studies at Oklahoma state university where I sharpened my skills in the automotive and diesel fields, which led me to a successful career as a technician. While working in the industry, I always wanted to help mentor students and give back to them just as my teachers at Cypress Springs did for me. I want to be the difference in these students lives. I am leading these students into successful careers in the automotive industry and showing them that there are no limits to what they can accomplish.
