September Character Trait of the month is Love
September is the month of love at CCA. This is based off of Matthew 22:37. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength.” This week I asked three students who I thought represented love, what love means to them. I asked Zaylee in 2nd grade, she responded, “ Love means for me, I’m going to love people and not be mean to them, and show kindness.” I also asked Maia in 5th grade and she answered, “Loving people for themselves.” Lastly, I asked Emma in 10th grade, she said, “Love to me means doing anything for that person and caring for them so much.” --Allie

Love Devotion
To end our month long focus on the "Love" character trait, we thought you might enjoy this sermon series from Lifeway called, "How to Show Love and Respect to Others," which is based upon John 13. John 13:34 tells us, "A new command I give you Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." Class Spotlight: 4th Grade
On September 26, I sat in on 4th grade to see what they've been learning. When I walked in, students were all sitting at their desks listening to Mrs. Neal. They were in their Bible workbooks doing work on the board. Some of the kids tried to recite their memory verse to earn more class store cash. In Bible class they learned about what faith is and how we always need it. They also learned about creation, and the flood, and what evolutionists believe versus creationists. Mrs. Neal talked about how they need to be thankful for their parents and make sure to be kind and have kind hearts. She related this to the evil hearted people in Noah’s day. She taught them to wake up happy, instead of in a bad mood, because God wants us to be righteous hearted. The rest of the time i was in their classroom, students focused on learning the books of the Bible. --Allie
See You at the Pole
Last Wednesday, September 25th, CCA gathered around the flag pole at 8:10AM for See You at the Pole. Our student led worship team led us in singing "Holy Forever" as a school. Four students read Scripture verses. Parker read from 1 Timothy, Kalynn read Philippians 4:4-5, Lily read Romans 8:26-27, and Colten read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Hannah, Maggie, Brooklyn, Katie, Mayme, Arianna, and Caroline, led the school in singing "The Blessing."
Sandra Poff was CCA's speaker this year, and she spoke about the power of prayer and shared that 45,000 showed up to pray back in 1990, the first year of SYATP, and this year 4.2 million were projected to gather around the flag pole to pray for our country. She also spoke on how we should pray at all times no matter the situation. She then had a few students pray to close the short prayer vigil. The students that prayed were Audrey P., Peyton, Cora, Maylie, Kayin, Ezra, and Brooklyn. --Carissa

Chapel
On Friday, September 27th, Gabe Baughman, KidMin Pastor from Allen Street Baptist presented chapel. He began by asking us, “Who of you likes to do yard work?” He then told us that the one thing his dad was terrible at was pruning the bushes. He talked about how God prunes us so we can be more fruitful. He read from John 15 and he talked about the fruits of the spirit and how we bear fruit. He told us that Jesus is the true vine, God is the gardener, and the garden is the Kingdom of Heaven. The only way to get into God's garden is to enter it through Jesus Christ.
God cuts off every branch that bears no fruit and prunes the ones that are fruitful, so they will bear more fruit in the future. We need to abide by Jesus because He's the one who will lead us, forgive us, and help us look different among the unbelievers. The Kingdom is here and now; Christians are living in it. Are you looking like Jesus? Are you producing good fruit? Be a witness by producing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Thank you Gabe for the wonderful sermon! –Sophia
Upper School Student Led Bible Study
Friday, September 27th, was the first upper school student led Bible study of the year. Brett and Libby Foster led the first meetings. The girls talked about the Prodigal son, and how we can always come back to God and He will welcome us back no matter how many wrongs we’ve done. We are never too far away from Him to come back again.
The boys talked about God's love for them, how much their Father in heaven adores them, and that no matter what, God will always love them. --Maggie

Did you know that students also practice tornado drills and intruder drills? CCA has a tornado drill and an intruder drill each semester of the school year. –Carissa

Soccer Action: Varsity gets Exiting Win in Overtime
On September 23rd, the Patriots traveled to Heartland Christian School in Belton, Missouri. The Patriots and the Mustangs were head to head, both teams were prepared to fight for the win. The Patriots defense was ready. Since Mason was a little banged up from a previous game, he was in as goal keeper and Hadley, the regular goal keeper, was on the field. It was a fast paced game of back-forth offense and defense. The game ended with a score of 0-0.
The Patriots and Mustangs began their 10 minute over time. Leo kicked the ball to the middle, which helped Collin secure a corner kick. The corner kick hit a defender and went into the goal. The Patriots were able to hang on to their 1-0 lead over the Mustangs. This win improved the Varsity Patriots record to 3-5 on the season. --Brooklyn

Senior Fundraising
Our 2025 CCA Seniors are raising money for their senior trip which is partly a mission trip and partly a fun trip. They will be going to southeast Georgia to work in a food pantry, and Christian camp for foster children.
This year, our seniors also have an opportunity to go on CCA's very first out of country mission trip to Belize. Money raised will first go towards the Senior trip to Georgia/Florida but we have hope that if enough money is raised it will cover some of the cost to their Belize trip.
Orders have been placed for the Laundry Soap fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who supported our seniors by purchasing.
CCA Seniors also sell homemade cookies every Thursday morning! Students love this! Just $1
The CCA Seniors will have a Yard Sale in November. Mrs. Hyke will send out more information later but please fill free to save and donate your yard sale items to them to sell!
Thank you so so much for all the love, prayers and support!
