January 2025
WELCOME BACK, WILDCATS!
Toy-Free Zone 🚫
Hey there Wildcats! We’re so excited to see you back on January 7th! But before you pack your backpacks, we need to clear up a little something: school is for learning, not for showing off your coolest toys, snuggliest stuffies, or rarest Pokémon cards. (Yes, even if you finally got that Charizard.)
You see, when toys come to school, they can cause a bit of chaos. Stuffies get lost, Pokémon battles break out during math time, and someone always tries to trade their snack for a shiny card. (Spoiler: that’s not a good deal. Keep your snacks!)
So, let’s make a promise: all those fun things get to stay safe and sound at home, waiting for you to play with after school. We’ll keep the school day full of learning, games at recess, and maybe even some surprises that don’t involve stuffed llamas.
Deal? Deal. Can’t wait to see you and your toy-free backpacks soon!
Reminder: Morning Drop-Off Procedure 🚗
For the safety of our students, we would like to remind you that traffic flows north to south during morning car rider drop-off. This prevents students from having to cross the street against oncoming traffic. Once you have pulled alongside the sidewalk closest to the building, your kiddos can hop out and make their way to the gym doors. Please resist the urge to pass cars. We've been witness to several near misses! We promise the line will move quickly. Your precious cargo is OUR precious cargo! Please help us keep them safe!
January's Word of the Month: R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
This month, our school is focusing on the character word "Respect" as part of our Capturing Kids’ Hearts initiative. Respect is the foundation of positive relationships and a thriving school community. It means showing kindness, consideration, and understanding to others, as well as taking care of ourselves and our surroundings.
Throughout the month, students will explore what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like—in the classroom, on the playground, and at home. Teachers will lead discussions, activities, and role-playing scenarios to help students practice respecting others' ideas, cultures, and personal space.
We encourage you to continue these conversations at home! Talk with your child about ways to show respect to family members, friends, and even strangers. Ask questions like:
- How can you show respect when someone has a different opinion?
- What does respect for the environment look like?
- How do you feel when someone treats you with respect?
Together, let’s empower our kids to lead with respect and make our school and community a better place. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child grow in character and kindness!
