Principal's Message
Greeting families,
We have successfully finished the first week of school, and I want to thank you again for your patience, support, feedback, snacks, and comments. We strengthened most of our systems this past week, and you played an essential role in our fast turnaround. In addition, you have helped us design the school procedures that best work for you as founding families. So, let's continue building our strong relationship during this second week of instruction.
This week, some of you may experience your child's hesitancy to return to school as they have been off for two days. This is normal at that age, and they will get used to the weekly schedule. However, this could happen again after the three-day weekend.
We will launch some systems during our third week of instruction. Teachers will add one more communication layer by sending a weekly electronic newsletter you can translate to any language; they will also send a folder home with information about your child. These two systems will solidify your communication with the classroom teachers. We will also continue using class dojo, so if you have not joined your class account, please do so, as the teachers will send updates that way as well. If you need the access code, please get in touch with your child's teacher.
We will also launch a google site to house all the information I am sharing in my newsletters for your convenience.
This week, we will conduct our first fire drill. Our goal is to do it on Wednesday if the weather permits. The evacuation route is towards the UTSW parking lot next to the school. All students will; be monitored as we make our way to the meeting location. Our coach has been training our scholars on the procedures.
Last, I want to remind you that daily attendance is essential, and students are expected daily unless they are sick.
If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate and ask. I will send another email during the week if I get updates.
Thanks for choosing us!
Kind Regards,
Roberto Gonzalez
Arrival/Dismissal
We have made modifications to ensure you and your children are safe. We used the feedback and ideas that we received from you. This new procedure will eliminate the need to cross Forest Park Rd as we do not have a crosswalk or crossing guard.
Please, check your child's backpack as we put a temporary card with a number. The number will help us identify your child/children as you enter the pick-up line. We will give you a second set once we laminate them. If you cannot find it, please let us know via email.
Implementing the new systems may create delays in the pick-up line.
Last, you can still walk to the school to pick up your child if you choose to do it.
Please, see the updated procedures below.
