March 2025
Science Spectacular, Spring Book Fair, Music in Our Schools Month, & More.....
This month, our Science Spectacular brought curiosity and discovery to life at Village! Our Village Scientists explored hands-on experiments, exciting demonstrations, and the wonders of STEM in action. It was amazing to see their enthusiasm as they questioned, tested, and discovered the magic of science!
Our Spring Book Fair was a huge success, filling Village with the joy of reading! It was wonderful to see students excited to explore new books and grow their love for reading. A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for making this event possible and creating such a special experience for our students!
March was a celebration of Music in Our Schools Month, a national movement highlighting the importance of music education in shaping creativity, expression, and lifelong learning. Our incredible music department—Mrs. Devore, Mrs. Dowling, and Mr. Small—led a month filled with musical fun, including Name That Tune, Mystery Song Monday, and Karaoke Friday. We were also thrilled to welcome special guests, staff from the high school, who visited us with their bagpipes, adding a unique and memorable touch to our celebrations.
Thank you for your #FunFriday spirit—it was fantastic seeing our students dressed as their favorite musicians! Music brings our school community together and plays a vital role in every child’s education.
Ask About
Going Beyond....How was your day?
Family: “How was your day?”
Child: “Ok”
Family: “What did you do today?”
Child: “Nothing”
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone! Obviously our children do more than “nothing” at school all day. Below are some questions that will hopefully spark some conversations in your family!
Be sure to Ask About:
- Have you ever had a day where you felt really lucky? Tell me about it.
- If you could plan the perfect school day, what would it look like?
- If you could design your own playground at school, what would be in it and why?
Kindergarten:
- Why do you think you are lucky?
- What do you push? What do you pull?
- Who is kind to you at school? What do you do together?
First Grade:
- What does it mean to be an expert?
- When have you felt lucky?
- Talk about your family history. Who are your ancestors and where did they come from?
Second Grade:
- Let's talk about Animal research!
- What can you share about 3 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping?
Third Grade:
- What can you share about Fractions?
- Let's talk about Stone Fox Read Aloud
- Tell me about the Field Trip to see “Descendants”
Fourth Grade:
- Ask about what I have learned so far from our Plant and Animal Structures Unit.
- Tell me about the Field Trip to see “Descendants”
- What are the different text structures of nonfiction writing?
Fifth Grade:
- How do you find the volume of a composite figure?
- What is the difference between a food chain and a food web?
- What is the main conflict in your independent reading book? Does this conflict help you to uncover the overall theme?
