From Margarita Trujillo, Advisor to the Robotics Club:
I would like to acknowledge the contributions from the following people in the district whose help to the robotics team has made all of the difference: David Raduzycki and his custodial staff (evening and weekends included), Marie Pagano & Chad Ennis. As some of you may already know, it has been a tough season with only one coach, limited mentor availability and minimal parent involvement. However, thanks to the extra effort of these employees and our amazing mentors, we were able to have a robot that did exceptionally well in competition. The students have gained so much knowledge, sense of leadership and community, and those are even better reasons than making a robot. The founder of FIRST, Dean Kayman, always says that this organization is not about kids building robots, but robots building kids. In terms of students, there were many of them who contributed countless hours in the shop designing, building, programming, marketing and cheering during comps. I want to give a special shout-out to three students who helped the team win the Gracious Professionalism Award by helping another team code their robot: Justin and Nathan Edgington & Maxim Kudryashov!!! another major contribution that Justin and Nathan have made is the creation and development of an app (SPIKEScout) that helped SPIKE do scouting of other teams in real time during comps, and provide important data. They are making it available to other teams. Truly amazing kids!

On Thursday at dismissal, the TMS Jazz Band performed in the main lobby area for students and staff at their first "Cocoa Cafe". The jazz band, our Chamber Winds group, and other 6th-8th grade band students continued performances until about 4:30 and sold hot chocolate and candy to any students, faculty, family, and friends that are around.
