Highland Park High School
HPHS Choir: District Competition
Highland Park High School Choir competed at the District competition on Saturday, September 21st! Our Singing Scots performed fantastically with 48 students advancing to the next round (see below)! They will be attending the Region competition on October 19th. Additionally, 19 students earned placement in the 9th/10th grade Honor Choir. Congratulations to all of our choir students who competed!
Highlander Band: Mesquite Marching Festival
Congratulations to the Highlander Band for their amazing performance at the Mesquite Marching Festival and for earning the following awards in a very competitive field!

Over 30 talented marching bands from the DFW area competed in the Mesquite Marching Festival and we are so proud of the Highlander Band for its incredible results!

Raider Band: Football Games
The 7/8th Grade Raider Band students played during the 7th grade Football Games on Tuesday, September 24th at Highlander Stadium! We'll be performing at the 8th grade football games this Tuesday!
Some of our Raider Band students acted as "Band Aides" for our HPHS band students! These students volunteered to help the Highlander Band at two of the home football games! They refilled water bottles, moved show props, and even helped move electronics- then they got to play in the stands with the Highlander Band! Lots of fun!
Raider Band: Raider Drumline
The Raider Drumline performed at Boone Elementary on Friday, September 27th and at Bradfield Elementary on Sunday, September 29th!

Hyer Elementary: Kindergarten Art
Kindergarteners are reviewing the color wheel and rainbow order in art class with Ms. Munsie!
Hyer Elementary: 1st Grade Art
First graders are working on a cityscape background for a self-portrait project.
Hyer Elementary: 4th Grade Art
Fourth graders are also working on their self-portrait projects using tracing paper!
Hyer Elementary: Music
Hyer Kindergarten students sang Hickory Dickory Dock, acted it out, and played a steady beat on temple blocks/wood blocks. Dr. Julie Scott from SMU and her Practicum music students taught this lesson. The kiddos loved it!
University Park Elementary: 2nd Grade Art
UP 2nd graders studied the life and work of French artist, Henri Rousseau, and his amazing jungle paintings. Students then created their own jungle landscapes using various media such as chalk, paint, and colored pencils. Can you spot the hidden animals in each work?
University Park Elementary: 3rd Grade Art
UP 3rd graders studied contemporary artist Emma Connally and reviewed the many ways artists use LINE in their artworks. After applying and mixing neon paint by scraping it across their papers, students added various line and design patterns to create a colorful abstract work of art.
