To recognize the valuable 4-H leaders and volunteers we have right here in Cass County, nominate someone - we have so many amazing people who would qualify! Adult volunteers may be nominated by other adults or youth, and may nominate themselves.
The county level award winners will be selected by our local 4-H Council from the pool of nominations forms we receive. Nomination deadline is September 15th! Complete the form(s) and either drop them off, mail, or email to Lauren @ lauren.stohlmann@unl.edu

Cass County 4-H Ambassador
The primary goal of the Cass County 4-H Ambassador Program is to develop leadership skills and building communication skills to be utilized in an advocacy role for the Cass County 4-H Program as well as in other aspects of the Ambassador's life.

2020 4-H Foundation Trail Ride October 2-4, 2020
This yearβs 4-H Foundation Trail Ride will be held on October 2-4, 2020. Join us for an enjoyable, guided ride through the scenic Nebraska National Forest near Halsey. Enjoy delicious meals, family activities, and great entertainment. All proceeds support the Nebraska 4-H camp programs. To register, mail the completed registration form to the Nebraska 4-H Foundation, , PO Box 4500, Lincoln, NE 68504. The registration fee is $50 per adult and $25 per youth if postmarked before September 20. After September 20 the registration fee is $60 per adult and $35 per youth. Join us for just the Saturday night Trail Supper, silent auction and entertainment for $20 (included in Trail Ride registration). All events are subject to the local health departmentβs Directed Health Measures and may be cancelled. If the event must be cancelled we will issue full refunds to registrants. No refunds will be made if participant is unable to attend.

Adventure Day Camps with Douglas Sarpy Extension
- October 10, 16, 17 & 31
- Open to all youth ages: 6-14
- Location: Schramm State Recreation Area. Time: 9:00am β 5:00pm, optional extended evenings.
Nebraska 4-H school year camps provide a wonderful opportunity for youth to get away from it all and spend quality time connecting with nature and the great outdoors while they have days off from school or are on school breaks. We're proud to partner with Douglas-Sarpy County Extension 4-H Youth Development to offer science-based school-year day camps. Through these experiences, youth have the opportunity to explore the natural world at Schramm State Recreation Area. These day camps allow youth to connect with friends while enjoying their natural surroundings. NEBRASKA 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS LEADER CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP
- A Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification Workshop is scheduled for early October near Ashland. It will be held October 10-11 at the Ashland Gun Club near Ashland. The deadline to register for the Ashland session is October 1st, 5 pm.
- Volunteers have the opportunity to become certified as an adult (21 years and older) or apprentice (14-20 years old) leader in the Shotgun discipline. There is a minimum number of participants required to offer this workshop. Workshop participants will learn under expert instruction from members of the Nebraska State 4-H Shooting Sports Training Team.
- The registration fee is $110.00 per person for initial certification and those individuals adding an additional discipline except for Apprentice Instructors. The registration fee for Apprentice Instructors is $90 for this workshop and due by October 1st. This fee includes meals, supplies and program materials. The registration fee after October 1st is $160. Participants must make their own lodging arrangements. Registration on Saturday runs from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
- Participants are requested to bring their own mask and hand sanitizer. Face coverings are recommended to be worn. Please maintain a distance of 6 feet from the next person if possible. If you feel sick at all, please stay home.

- INDIVIDUALS MAY COMPETE WITHOUT BEING ON A TEAM.

π― SMALLBORE PISTOL & RIFLE SHOOTERSπ―
Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Members,
Nebraska will be hosting the 4-H Shootings Sports National Championships at the Heartland Public Shooting Park and Events Center in Grand Island on June 20-25, 2021. This event will involve 4-H youth from across the nation competing in nine disciplines. These include: Compound Archery, Recurve Archery, Air Rifle, Air Pistol, .22 Rifle, .22 Pistol, Shotgun, Muzzleloading, and Hunting Skills.
Nebraska has selected or will be selecting teams to represent our state in all of the disciplines. However, we are seeking eligible youth interested in participating in the 2021 4-H Shootings Sports National Championships in the smallbore rifle and smallbore pistol disciplines.
Participants must have passed their 14th birthday before January 1 of the current year and may not have passed their 19th birthday before January 1 of the current year in which the 4-H Shootings Sports National Championships is held. More details will be available at a later date.
4-H youth who are interested in participating in Smallbore Rifle/Pistol are required to complete the online β4-H Shooting Sports National Championships Interest Form.β This form can be found at - https://forms.gle/mKJ4E4N8zQdVFxB1A or HERE . Deadline to complete the online Interest/Intent Form is September 18th, 2020, 5 pm.
A Qualifying Match for both disciplines will be scheduled this fall if there is sufficient interest from youth in participating in the 2021 National Match.

State Level Nebraska 4-H Achievement Information and Application
4-H members ages 15-18 as of December 31 of the current year are eligible to participate in the state-level Nebraska 4-H Achievement Application. The application is a standard application form used for the selection of state award winners, including Nebraska delegates to National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference, as well as Nebraska 4-H Foundation scholarship award recipients.

STATE 4-H LIVESTOCK JUDGING CONTEST
2020 State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest IN-PERSON at the UNL Animal Science Complex Arena on Sunday, September 20th!!! Registration/Check-in will begin at 7:00am that morning with the contest kicking off at 8:00am. As of now, the National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest is still moving forward as planned so this contest is vital for us to qualify a team for the national level.
Their will be multiple changes to this year's contest, please see those below:
- This will be a Senior Division Only contest. Each team will be limited to 5 contestants and only one coach and one other chaperone if needed.
- Everyone attending the contest will wear a mask and hand sanitizer stations will be present throughout the facility.
- Livestock classes will be arranged in a more spread-out fashion and we may implement a 2-round system for the placings portion of the contest.
- Youth will maintain at least 10-foot distancing from reasons takers during that portion of the competition.
- We will not arrange a live awards ceremony on site. Awards will either be annoβunced on facebook live or simply sent out by email. Awards will be mailed as well.
- We will not be providing any pencils, clipboards, paper, etc.. to the youth. Each team shall bring their own materials. We will only handout placing cards and contestant numbers in the team packets.
- We will not be providing lunch this year but plan to have the contest finished by 1-2pm.
If you need hotel rooms for Saturday night, the Staybridge Suites I-80 will be providing a special rate.
