Jarrell ISD Monday Memo
April 7, 2025
Cougars,
This week, Jarrell ISD will test its mass notification system. This routine test ensures the system works correctly and determines whether we have your most recent contact information.
Updating parent/guardian contact information is important for several key reasons:
Emergency Situations: In an emergency—such as a medical issue, injury, natural disaster, or lockdown—school staff need to reach parents or guardians immediately.
Health-Related Concerns: If a student becomes sick or needs to be picked up, accurate contact details ensure the school can promptly reach someone authorized to take the student home or to a healthcare provider.
Safety Notifications: Schools often send alerts about potential threats, weather closures, or other safety-related updates. Incorrect contact information may prevent parents from receiving timely and potentially life-saving information.
Authorized Pick-Up: Schools need current information about who can pick up a student. If contact records are outdated, a child might be released to someone without permission, posing a serious safety concern.
Ongoing Communication: Beyond emergencies, regular communication between schools and parents, including behavioral concerns, attendance issues, or academic updates, helps support early intervention and student well-being.
Beyond emergencies, accurate contact info also ensures families stay informed about their child's academic progress, attendance, and important events. Staying connected with the school helps parents stay involved, engaged, and ready to support their child every step of the way.
How to update your contact information:
Log in to the Ascender Parent Portal and review the information we have on file.
When information is updated, it takes up to 24 hours to be processed in our system.
