The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
THE PLAYGROUND IS OPEN!
To say that students (and teachers) were thrilled to step onto a playground for the first time in 82 school days is an understatement. The pure joy that was on their faces as they swarmed the different apparatuses was a sight to behold. I can still hear the cheers of the winning 6th grade team as they timed each other through the ninja warrior sections of the playground. Two kindergarteners were so excited to be on the playground, that they embraced for a few seconds before continuing to a piece of equipment.
But it was the thankfulness of our students that left an indelible mark on my heart - the perfect reflection of how we are all (family, church and school) working together to shape the hearts and minds of our covenant children. "Gratitude gets at the very essence of what it means to be created, finite, fallen, redeemed and sustained by the God of all grace." (Ann Voskamp - DesiringGod.com)
"For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God." 2 Cor 4:15
SCCS ANNUAL SURVEY
We value our parents at SCCS very much, and we want to hear from you! Could you please take 10 minutes or so to complete the annual survey found at this link?
The deadline for completing the survey is Tuesday (October 15). The school leadership and board of trustees take time to analyze results to both celebrate what is going well and to put plans in place for areas of improvement. We highly encourage you to complete the survey because we definitely use the results. Thank you for choosing to partner with SCCS!
THE EXCITEMENT OF A NEW PLAYGROUND!
On a beautiful Monday morning, after 82 school days with no playground equipment, our students joyfully inaugurated our new playground! Two grade levels at a time were given the opportunity to discover all the new play equipment and filled their time with running, jumping, climbing, sliding, crawling, and flipping... and discovering the special playground turf is super cushiony!
Comments heard on the playground:
"That was 20 minutes of awesomeness!"
"WOW, this is AMAZING!"
"Thank you for getting this playground for us!"
"We are so blessed to have this!" (from a teacher)
We are so thankful and blessed to have this wonderful space where kids can be image reflectors of God, who built in us a need for play! THANK YOU, students and teachers, for your patience and for being creative as you had recess on our soccer field for those 82 school days!
We want to give special thanks to our friends at Interstates and Van Holland Lawn Service, Ltd. for their part in making this playground possible!

STORYLINE CHAPEL
FROM OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY
All TK-8 students have access to our school library. TK-4 students visit the library once a week and check out a book. When your child returns their book, they may check out a new book. Books are due weekly in elementary and every two weeks in middle school.
Mrs. Emily Mouw facilitates elementary student checkouts and Mrs. Jill Van Soelen oversees the library administration. The deep hope of our library is that students find BEST stories that positively impact the way we think, feel, and act!

MOMS IN PRAYER
Do you desire to make an immediate and eternal impact on children’s lives through prayer? Moms in Prayer groups meet every Tuesday at First CRC in Sioux Center while school is in session. They pray for every student and every teacher throughout the school year. The Grandmother’s Prayer group meet from 9:30-10:30am in the Fireside room and the College/Career Prayer group meets from Noon – 1pm.
There currently isn’t a Sioux Center Christian Mom’s in Prayer group – if you would have interest in restarting this important group, please call Rachel Raih at 712-441-0885 (she is an SCCS grandma and the Heartland Division Coordinator for Moms in Prayer). Small groups of friends could join together or grade-level moms could meet at various times. There are prayer guide sheets that highlight the character of God as you pray for His kids and His school. It doesn’t have to be on Tuesdays – there are options available to keep up this vital prayer support for God’s kids at SCCS! https://momsinprayer.org/
