مَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ الْقَلِيلَ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ الْكَثِيرَ
Hadith of the Week:““The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever is not grateful for small things will not be grateful for large things."
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Assalamu alaikum respected parents, I pray you and your families are doing well and getting ready to enjoy a relaxing Thanksgiving break with family and friends in sha Allah. Last Sunday, our students witnessed the ground breaking ceremony at IFN. Our younger students (PK-4th grade) were able to watch part of the event from the balcony on the 2nd floor while our older students (5th-8th grade) were able to go outside during recess time to take part in the groundbreaking and dig with shovels. Our teachers discussed with students how this was such an important milestone in the history of IFN and made special dua for the smooth and successful completion of the expansion project in shaa Allah, Ameen. During recess, we arranged indoor games and activities for younger students (PK-4th) since the playground was not available. Moving forward, we will have an alternate plan for recess every week as students will not be able to access the playground due to construction. If weather permits, we will set up some outdoor games/activities for students in the front of the building by blocking the driveway outside main entrance with cones and students can enjoy some outdoor time during recess. However, If the weather is too cold or snowy/rainy, students will have recess indoors, either in the banquet hall (when it's available) or in their classrooms under adult supervision. Students are allowed to bring ONE board game/ card game or toy etc in their backpacks for indoor recess (if needed). In case they do, please make sure that they understand the expectations around using these games/toys etc only during indoor recess time and not during instructional times. Students are also expected to take full responsibility and ownership of any materials that they choose to bring from home.
Please be aware that Sunday School will be closed for Thanksgiving Holiday on December 1st 2024 and our Annual Qirat Competition will be held on December 15th in sha Allah during school hours. This is a student only event such that students will be pulled from their classroom to be tested by our judges and we will announce the results of the Qirat competition to parents in our weekly Newsletter. Quran Teachers will submit names of participating students on THIS coming Sunday November 24th. If your children are interested in participating, please remind them to let their teachers know by this Sunday. To see what surahs are assigned for each grade, please refer to the visual in the "News You Can Use" section of this Newsletter.
MORNING ASSEMBLY: Our morning Assembly on 11/17 was led by Sr Mazozeh Shaban, our 2nd grade Quran & Arabic teacher. She talked to students about the importance of gratitude to Allah SWT, ways of expressing our gratitude and how the act of being thankful to Allah is a constant act that should occur at every moment and day. Even with a constant state of being thankful, we can never thank Allah enough for what He was provides us. Allah says in the Quran: “If you thank me, I will increase you in what I have given to you. Please see the attached FLYER for more information.
For any parents who would like to come and lead a morning assembly at Sunday School, or get involved in other volunteer opportunities at Sunday School, please fill out THIS FORM and we will reach out to you with next steps.

CHANGE IN DISMISSAL PROCEDURES FOR PRE-K & KG
Parents of PreK & KG, please note that we have revised our dismissal procedures for students of PreK and KG to ensure the safety of our youngest students at dismissal times which are very crowded. Students of PK and KG will now be lined up in the hallway on the right side by the Sunday School office. Staff will dismiss students one by one and are directed to mark off on the list when students are picked up by their parents. This may take some extra time and we appreciate your patience and cooperation to ensure safe and smooth dismissal procedures in sha Allah. JazakAllah Khair for your support!
⭐⭐STAR STUDENTS OF THE MONTH ⭐⭐
For Months of September/October
As we have ended our first couple of months of Sunday School, we announced our "Star Students of the Month" for the months of September/October. From each grade level, 1-2 students were chosen for demonstrating excellence "ihsan" in their behavior, conduct, academics or overall performance. These students were nominated by teachers for reasons such as "being helpful, being prepared for class, participation in class, homework completion, showing EFFORT towards personal student goals, etc". We are so proud of ALL our students and our goal is to "catch them doing good" and "recognize" them for their efforts and progress. Please see below a list of all our star students this month. They received their "Star Student of the Month" certificates and also earned a prize from our office prize box. Keep up the great work, ma sha Allah!
11/18/24 UPDATE: I realized there were some typos and errors in a couple names (e.g. 2nd grade names were not updated, and a couple names were missing. I have updated the image. I apologize for any confusion!)
