Magness Creek Elementary

It has been a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious week here at the Creek! 😍Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a real word, located in most dictionaries, and is used to describe something that is extremely good, super, amazing, or excellent. It was made famous in the 1964 Disney movie Mary Poppins which features a song that uses this long word. Our third and fourth graders were treated to a performance of Mary Poppins this week at the Cabot High School, and it was magical! 🎭

Can you believe we are almost to the end of the first nine weeks of school? That's right--October 17 marks the end of grading period one. We will have report cards ready to showcase your student's progress at Parent-Teacher Conferences. These are scheduled for Tuesday, October 22 and Thursday, October 24. Be looking for the sign up forms for this important event from your child's teacher.

Our students will have Monday, October 14 off from school while our teachers collaboratively prepare for the second nine weeks of school. We will also dismiss at 1:30 on Friday, October 18 for the Homecoming parade.

This month our school will focus on the character word "Self-Direct." Self-directed learning is a beneficial way for students to grow their skills, while remaining true to their interests, strengths, and talents. Self-directed learning keeps students motivated to work, while also growing their social, collaborative, management, and research skills. Students have both a freedom and responsibility to set and meet their own goals and deadlines, reinforcing the importance of decision-making in their lives. This is an important life skill, and we have a building full of "goal getters"!!!⚽🥅

In order to volunteer at Magness Creek, you will need to complete a background check every year and have Hallway Hero training once in your lifetime. We want the Hallway Hero piece to be easy and convenient for our families.
