Newton Collins is hosting an IN-PERSON Registration Event for 23-24 Pre-K and NEW Kindergarten Families on Tuesday, May 16th from 3:30-6PM.

IN-PERSON Registration is NOT required. You can also register online at www.dvisd.net

During this event, we will also be hosting tours of our Pre-K classrooms and a meet and greet with our Pre-K teachers from 3:30-5:30PM. Families who have already registered online for 23-24 Pre-K are welcome to attend and meet Pre-K teachers and see the Pre-K classrooms.

***If you currently have a student in Pre-K at Collins, you do NOT need to register them for Kindergarten. We will send out a request for you to update your records on Skyward later in May.

The DVISD Child Nutrition Department is seeking your feedback on the school meals provided to students. Parents and/or students can answer the survey, which asks about breakfast and lunch service. Click here to access the survey.

Parents, please take a few moments to complete our annual Title 1 Part A Family Engagement Survey. This survey is used for future planning about our parent and family engagement policy and continuously improving the academic quality of our school. The Family Engagement Survey is required by all campuses receiving Title 1 Part A funds.

The research is clear about the connection between student improvement and effective home-school communication and partnership. Please complete this survey so that we can evaluate our strategies for parent and family engagement and to determine how we can continue to grow and strengthen our partnership between school and home!

Please note that an UPDATED Water Day schedule has been included below. Please disregard the Water Day schedule included in last week's parent newsletter.

Students in Kinder-3rd grade will be having a Water Day to celebrate hard work on May 16! We will have 5 water stations for students to enjoy. Students will get wet, but there are no stations involving swimming or pools of water.

In order to participate, students MUST:

Wear clothing with no zippers or buttons.

No jewelry

T-shirt must be work over swimwear.

Wear shorts

Students need to bring a towel and a change of clothes and sunscreen, if needed.

Students may bring a sack lunch or get a cafeteria lunch.

Students may bring money for Kona Ice! See below for pricing.

Parent visitors will be allowed outside for water day during the time your child's class is enjoying the stations. All campus visitors must check in at the front office. Parents will not be able to return to the classrooms with their children. Siblings are not permitted to attend on water day.

Our spring Literati book fair will be from May 15th-19th in the Newton Collins Library. All proceeds from the book fair will benefit our school library.

All students will have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their class during the school day.

Parents and community members can shop our book fair online by visiting our online book fair website.

For students purchasing books at the book fair, we encourage you to purchase a gift card from our website for them to use instead of sending cash. This ensures no money gets lost on the way to school. You are welcome to email the gift card (along with your child’s name in the email) to our librarian, Ms. Amy, at amy.gonzalez@dvisd.net. She will use the gift card for your child when he/she visits the book fair.

Want to buy a book for a student in need? Purchase a book fair gift card and send it to our librarian, Ms. Amy, at amy.gonzalez@dvisd.net. Please add a note that it is a donation for a student who needs a book. She will share it with a student in need so that they can buy a book.

Interested in purchasing a Literati Book Clubs subscription? When you subscribe to Literati Book Clubs, you will receive a box of books tailored to your children's needs each month. In addition, 10% of your monthly subscription fee will benefit the Newton Collins Library! This is a great way to get new books for your children each month and to support our library!

Due to the anticipated large number of attendees to Kinder graduations, we are hosting two so that all families will have seating room during the graduation.

5th Graduation

May 24, 5:30PM

All other grade levels will conduct End of Year Awards in their classrooms during the last week of school.

Please help us spread that word that Enrollment for the 2023-24 for NEW students and Pre-K is now open! Feel free to share the links and information below on your community networks!
