A Note from Mrs. Mitchell...
Now, I feel the need to clarify why Mrs. Wikoff and I took on Mr. Raleigh in a two-on-one match. His height advantage is completely unfair. That said, we still didn’t win, though I can’t help but think that with just a little more effort from Mrs. Wikoff, things might’ve gone differently! Not judging though.

2024-2025 School Improvement Plan
At Gregory Middle School, we believe that a School Improvement Plan is not just a document. It's a living and evolving roadmap for our school’s continuous growth. While it’s always a work in progress, it serves as a critical tool to guide us toward achieving our goals and ensuring every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. This year, we’ve worked hard with our dedicated staff and parents to create a plan that reflects our vision and sets clear, actionable steps for success.
We are grateful for everyone who contributed their time, ideas, and expertise to develop this plan, and we are excited to move forward together. We're committed to keeping Gregory on a path of continuous improvement.
We invite you to check out the goals outlined in our plan, and learn more about how we intend to achieve them. Together, we will continue to build a strong, supportive, and enriching learning environment for all students.
Gregory Middle School's Official Summative Designation
The Every Student Succeeds Act requires states to annually assess the performance of public
elementary and secondary schools. These designations describe schools excelling across various
academic and student success indicators and identify schools requiring support and improvement.
Illinois issues five Annual Summative Designations:
- Exemplary acknowledges the top-performing 10% of schools.
- Comprehensive identifies (A) schools in the lowest-performing 5% and (B) schools with overall performance above the lowest-performing 5% that have one or more individual student groups who remain Targeted, even after completing a full Targeted school improvement cycle.
- Intensive identifies schools that remain in the lowest-performing 5%, even after completing a full Comprehensive Support school improvement cycle.
- Targeted recognizes schools with overall performance above the lowest-performing 5% but with individual student groups performing similarly to the lowest 5%.
- All other schools receive a Commendable designation.
Gregory Middle School's 2024 Annual Summative Designation is EXEMPLARY! This is the FIRST year that Gregory has received this designation since the program began in 2018. This recognition is a true testament to the magic that happens in our teachers' classrooms every day as well as the support provided by our parents at home!
This designation can also be viewed on the Illinois State Report Card, including data visualizations showing school and student group performance data overall and at the indicator score level.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, November 21 from 4:30-8:00 PM and Monday, November 25 from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 4:30-8:00 PM. Parents can begin scheduling conferences through ParentVue beginning November 13 at 6:00 AM through November 19 at 6:00 PM.
Middle school conferences take place in a team setting, which means that all of your child’s core teachers will be present during the scheduled conference time. When you schedule your child’s core team conference, you will be scheduling with the team leader. Even though you are only scheduling with one core teacher, please know that all core teachers will be present at the conference. For your reference, teams and the designated scheduling teacher for each team are listed below.
Team 6-1: Jenna Zientek
Team 6-2: Shari Lange
Team 7-1: Erica Jovanes
Team 7-2: Nick Park
Team 8-1: John Curran
Team 8-2: Ethan Johnson
When you sign up for conferences in ParentVue, you will also be able to schedule a conference with your child’s encore teachers. These conferences will be separate from your child’s core team conference. These conferences are not conducted in a team setting. You will meet individually with each encore teacher you select.
Though we would like to have the opportunity to meet with every parent, there is a limit to the number of conferences that can be held at the middle school level. We keep our conference times to 15 minutes in order to accommodate more families. However, we will still not have enough conference slots to meet with every family. Teachers will be reaching out to families if they feel a conference is necessary at this time. Parents are still welcome to schedule conferences if they don’t hear from teachers; however, conference slots are very limited.
If you have any questions regarding ParentVUE or conferences, please contact Kathy Housholder in the guidance office: 630-428-6302.

Power of Choice October Newsletter: Talk With Your Child About Underage Drinking (click the pic)
It’s important that parents establish an open dialogue about alcohol use early with their children. This makes sure that teens feel supported as they grow older and are exposed to more challenges surrounding underage drinking. Use our latest parent newsletter to help you prepare for these conversations. For more information, visit thepowerofchoice.info
