🔥 Message from Fire Chief Steven Bishop
July was a very busy month for the Gooding Fire District, not only here at home but we also have two crews out helping with the multiple wildfires in our neighboring states to the west. With the extremely hot weather we have had and will continue to have it does not take much for a fire to get going and get out of control very quickly. I would like to remind everyone to please make your home and property firewise, whether you live in the city or rural areas there are steps you can take to protect your homes from a fire. With the air quality being poor from the western wildfires, there is an open burn ban in place. I hope everyone has a great month of August!
Message from Mayor Diane Houser
Hello Gooding,
Another month has passed. The heat has been hot and miserable. Nothing like having constant 100-degree temperatures. Hopefully, we will start cooling down a little. This weather can be hard on some people, especially our seniors.
Our Fair & Rodeo will be coming up soon. August 14th through August 17th. So, saddle up and get ready for a good time. Wednesday evening the Fair starts with the parade down Main St. Then it’s time to head out to the Fair Grounds with the kido’s and have a fun evening. There will be amusement rides, games, and of course elephant ears and lots of other goodies to eat. The rodeo will once again be televised on The Cowboy Channel, The Cowgirl Channel, and RFD TV so if you can’t make it to the fair grounds sit back in your chair and watch the fun.
The City of Gooding will also be closing early on August 14th so our employees can get their kids ready to participate in the parade and then be able to sit and watch the parade. We will be closing at 3 pm.
The surveyors for the river wall were here again and did some more surveying and a crew was drilling soil samples. They will be back again in the fall after the water is let out of the canal to finish up.
There will be a company coming into Gooding on August 5th to start cleaning and filming our sewer lines. They will be doing about 5 miles of line or 20%. They should be here for a couple of months so if you see people working in your alley that will be them.
Our streets department will be chip-sealing the roads on the northeast side of town. It will be from 1st Avenue to the canal. The roads being done will be Michigan St., Oregon St., Montana St., Wyoming St., Illinois St., and possibly Nebraska St. They will be working on these roads on August 14th and 15th. So please make sure you move your vehicles, so they don’t get rocks or hot tar on them. If you have any questions, please call City Hall.
Enjoy your summer. Have fun. GOD Bless and stay safe.
