Permenter Longhorn Check-In
May 20, 2024 - May 23, 2024
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
🚫No Backpacks Allowed Through The Last Day of School🚫
To reduce potential distractions and concerns and facilitate a smooth remainder of the school year, no backpacks will be allowed for scholars in grades 6-12 through the last day of school.
This measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution and to reduce safety concerns. Please note that a small clutch the size of a sandwich Ziploc or a pencil bag will be permissible for sanitary care and personal hygiene items.

Greetings from the principal, Dr. Lemons
The last day of this school year is Thursday, May 23rd.
With four days remaining in the school year, many are facing the summer with excitement. I need your help to ensure Permenter Middle School ends the year safe and focused. Scholars who disrupt the learning environment and pose a safety threat to themselves or others may face the consequence of not being allowed to finish the school year on the campus of Permenter. We have much to accomplish in a short time and we want to end the year on a high note of positive purpose.
Dismissal
We have an exceptional transportation department. Our buses are departing at approximately 4:19 each afternoon. Please encourage your scholar to listen intently and be on the bus pad as soon as they are called for at 4:15 so they are not left behind. Parents of car riders, we need you to pick your students up and soon as possible. We continue have students still waiting on their rides well after supervision has ended and that is not safe for children. Please be on time to get your child for their safety. School ends at 4:15. Car riders are released from the building at 4:17. We are asking all parents to be mindful of time and student safety. Parents of walkers, encourage your students to walk directly home. Few things positive or productive come from detours on the way home.
Chromebooks
The collection of Chromebooks and all assigned parts started last week. We still need district issued items to be turned in this week and collections will continue. Missing or damaged equipment will result in fines to families. Chromebook insurance was repeatedly offered to families at the beginning of the year through campus and district communication platforms.
Backpacks
No backpacks will be allowed beginning Wednesday, May 15th. This is not debatable. This is about safety and now has become the norm as schools end the school year.
Adjusted Schedule
We will have an adjusted schedule this week to minimize hallway traffic. Again, this is to reduce potential distractions and concerns in the name of facilitating a smooth remainder of the school year.
This is the last week of school I appreciate your partnership in advance in ensuring these 4 remaining days are days of focus, safety, and positive memories for your scholar. Please remind them to be respectful, in dress code and focused as teaching and learning is still expected to happen.
Faithfully,
Dr. Lemons
