Principal's Message
Hello,
As we head into the break I want to express my gratitude to the Decatur Community. I appreciate when there are issues the parents and students reach out to those who can support and facilitate the needed changes. Enjoy the upcoming break. Reflect on what is important and the things that make you happy. I hope our faculty, staff, and students all have the ability to disconnect from school and enjoy some calm during the break.
Congratulations to the Decatur Debate Team. They won all three divisions of debate and first-place sweepstakes! It was great hearing our Debate sponsors brag about the participation of schools and students from across the metro area on Saturday.
As we are about to wrap up fall activities, I want to congratulate our student-athletes, coaches, extracurricular participants, and their sponsors for the outstanding fall season. The commitment of participants and adults should be commended. A special thanks to parents and guardians who contributed with funding, getting students to DHS on the weekends, in the early morning and picking up from late evenings in the various activities. Without your many contributions and sacrifices our students' experiences wouldn’t be what it is.
Sincerely,
Duane Sprull, Ed.D.

Decatur High School Promotes Safe Driving with Cinema Drive
Decatur High School, in partnership with the Decatur Prevention Initiative (DPI), recently hosted its second annual Cinema Drive event. This impactful initiative brought together junior and senior students to raise awareness about the serious consequences of distracted driving.
Students experienced the Cinema Drive, a sophisticated 3D interactive driving system. This immersive program, funded by a grant from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, simulated real-world driving scenarios and highlighted the dangers of distracted driving.
DHS is committed to promoting safe driving habits and keeping our community safe!
