We were able to transition back smoothly after the inclement weather days and get ourselves back into school mode. Every morning on announcements I talk to students about being a Journey student and what that looks like - being Responsible, Respectful, and Safe. We emphasize bringing all materials to class and being ready to learn, keeping your hands and feet to yourselves and following directions from adults, in particular. Ms. Flaminio and our Broadcast team do a wonderful job with our morning announcements. I believe we are the only school in the school division, still, in which our announcements are completing student-run and live each day. It’s amazing to watch and be a part of!

Our family conferences are coming up and the sign up links are below. There are two days - October 17 and October 23 where you can sign up for a short conference with your child’s teachers (really short, it’s 6 minutes!) You do not need to sign up to meet with every teacher (unless that is what you want.) When you sign up, please indicate your student’s name and if you want to be on Zoom or in-person. Remember to give yourself time to get from one room to the next, if you are in person.

Our annual Fall Field Day has been rescheduled for Friday, October 11. We run an adjusted schedule and then have a variety of activities from 1:00-4:00 pm that students participate in with their GROWL classes. We do Minute-to-Win-It games, Tug-of-War competition, and an extended break. Students get a green or gold t-shirt (based on the color team they are on) and we compete for points. We are really looking forward to this annual event and the weather forecast looks great, so far.

• On Monday, October 7, the ACPS Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) will issue a survey to Special Education families.
• The SEAC would like to get as much input as possible from families to help inform special education services at ACPS.
• When you receive your text or email survey next week, please fill it out by the Friday, 10/18 deadline. Your input makes a difference.
