Prosper ISD Academic Competition

September 23, 2024
September Students of the Month
Each month we will recognize students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for their commitment to Academic Competition. With only the high schools engaged so far, we only have 2 for September. Please help us congratulate these outstanding students for their hard work and excellence in contributions to Prosper ISD Academic Competition!
PHS Debate Hosts National Qualifier Tournament for over a Thousand
This past weekend, Prosper High School was host to more than 1500 student competitors vying to qualify for the prestigious National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC). This is the first year that Prosper ISD has hosted a NIETOC bid tournament. This was held in conjunction with the Texas Forensics Association (TFA) tournament where students were also vying to qualify for the TFA State Meet in March.
Hosted by the Prosper High School Speech and Debate team, the tournament produced 20 NIETOC National bids in different events and several TFA State Qualifiers.
The Prosper High School debate program was supported by the Prosper High School Culinary Arts Department who supported the tournament by preparing and serving all of the food for the judge and coach hospitality department.
Prosper ISD Debate Programs Continue to Produce Excellence
At the most recent tournament held at Prosper High School, several more Prosper ISD students finished with state and national qualifiers and several more were medalists at the event.
