River Mill Elementary - December 20th
Dear River Mill Families,
As we approach the holiday season and start our Winter break, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership in making our school a place of learning, growth, and community.
Winter break is a special time to pause, reflect, and enjoy meaningful moments with loved ones. We hope your days are filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories with your children. Please remind your students to stay safe during their time off and to take a well-deserved break from their hard work. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in January, refreshed and ready for an exciting new chapter of learning for 2025. Wishing you and your family a joyful and restful winter break.
Thank you for your continued support,
Lindsey Fullenwider, Principal
Trevor Syring, Vice Principal

Student Behavior and Discipline
To foster a shared understanding of our school rules and how they are consistently enforced, we will be highlighting key aspects of our expectations, including how we try to first teach and support students in making positive behavior choices and how we approach discipline at River Mill. You can also find student behavior and discipline policies in our Parent/Student Handbook. If you have any questions or concerns about our school rules, student behavior, or discipline policies, please don’t hesitate to contact Lindsey Fullenwider or Trevor Syring. We value our partnership and collaboration with families and appreciate your support in creating a positive school environment!

Our Discipline Philosophy
At River Mill, we believe that teaching and modeling correct behaviors is the foundation for creating a safe, respectful, and positive school environment. Our first step is to guide students in understanding and practicing our school-wide rules—Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Kind—through clear expectations, classroom management plans, and positive reinforcement
Our classroom teachers develop classroom management plans, teach expected behaviors, reward students for positive behavior, and give consequences to students for negative behavior. Students who make inappropriate choices follow a set of progressive consequences that may include loss of recess, expectation class or detention, in-school or out-of-school suspension, loss of awards and privileges, and/or referral to law enforcement officials.
Next we will highlight our Discipline Referral System when teaching and modeling has been unsuccessful.

Attendance Matters
Did you know that many of our youngest students miss about 10% of the school year—around 14 days, or just two days a month? This level of chronic absenteeism in elementary school can predict lower test scores and challenges with retention in later grades. Every day and every minute of school matters, contributing to your child's growth and success! Please help us support your child's learning by ensuring they attend school every day and arrive on time. Thank you for partnering with us to build strong habits for lifelong learning!
