Superintendent's Message
This year marks a new chapter not only for our students but also for our district. I was officially named the Superintendent of Blue River Valley Schools in July. As we navigate this year together, I encourage everyone to embrace the values of kindness, respect, and perseverance. Our strength as a community lies in our ability to support and uplift one another, and I am confident that we will do so with compassion and unity.
To our parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Your partnership is invaluable, and we look forward to working together to ensure the success and well-being of every student.
To our incredible staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication and hard work. Your passion for education and commitment to our students are the cornerstones of our district's success.
Let us approach this school year with excitement and optimism, ready to embrace new challenges and celebrate our accomplishments. Together, we will make this year one of growth, discovery, and achievement.
Here's to a fantastic school year ahead!
Get to Know Mrs. Dickerson
For those who may not know me, my name is Lori Dickerson. I have been married to my husband Michael for 15 years. My husband is a Sergeant First Class in the Indiana Army National Guard and works there full-time. In addition to his full-time job, he has a small electrical business. He also helps at BRV by coaching varsity boys golf, assisting with varsity boys basketball, and helping start Jr. Vikings basketball at the elementary. We have 11-year-old twins named Jaylee and Mitchell. They will be 5th graders this fall at BRV. Fun fact: they have been students at BRV longer than I have been employed here! Our children participate in many activities which keeps us busy as a family. When we aren’t at BRV, we enjoy camping in our 5th wheel, showing pigs (and for the 1st time this summer goats), and watching IU sports (except for Mitchell who is a Purdue fan).
I have held a variety of administrative positions at BRV. I have been a principal in both buildings as well as the assistant superintendent. Before my time at BRV, I was an elementary teacher, data/literacy coach, and director of curriculum and instruction. I earned my undergraduate degree from Indiana University, my master’s degree from Ball State University, and I am still working towards my doctorate at Indiana State University. I am a passionate educator and I am looking forward to what we can achieve at BRV in the future.

New and Returning Paraprofessionals for this year!
First Student Day is August 7th!
The tardy bell will ring at 8:00 AM for both buildings!
New Waiver Days
The 2024-2025 school calendar was approved earlier this year. We applied to IDOE for waiver days to provide Professional Development to our staff. Five days were approved and are shown on the updated calendar below. On those days, students will NOT come to school and will NOT have e-learning to complete. In addition, we have eliminated our PM e-learning days.
Late-Start Wednesdays begins August 14th
Late-Start Wednesdays were approved for the 2024-2025 school year. Each Wednesday busses will run 30 minutes later and the tardy bell will ring at 8:30. Car riders can still drop off their students at 7:35 on Wednesdays. As a reminder, Blue River Valley Schools goes over the minimum amount of instructional minutes as required by the state each day. This time is valuable to our staff and we appreciate your support.
Meet the Teachers - August 5th 4:30-6:30
Elementary & Jr/Sr High
We want to promote family involvement at BRV. Please start the year by meeting your child's teachers in BOTH buildings. Elementary students are encouraged to bring school supplies. Questions about student activities and transportation can be answered as well!
Transportation Changes
Bus drivers should be calling to confirm route changes with families. If you are not certain about transportation changes, please contact the office. Please be flexible with students and staff during the first couple weeks of school as we settle into the new year.
Remember the elementary car rider line always takes longer on the first week of school!
Don't forget to complete registration for the 2024-2025 school year!
