Safety Concern: Right Turn Only When Exiting
As the snow melts, we have noticed an increase in parents turning left while exiting our campus. This puts our crossing guard in great danger and also makes the traffic patterns unpredictable for walking students. Please DO NOT TURN LEFT when exiting our campus. This exit is RIGHT TURN ONLY. Help us keep our staff and students safe.
Title I School Wide Plan
ANCCS's Cimiq Team is in the process of finalizing our 2024-2025 Title I School Wide Plan. Our three goals are in the areas of Attendance, Reading, and Restorative Practices.
Families and stakeholders are invited to participate in our school-wide planning process. Families also may email Principal Sweetsir with questions, comments, or suggestions regarding our Title I School-wide plan.
Attendance Matters!
In the month of April, 63.71% of our students attended at least 90% of the time. This means that 36.29% of our students missed more than 10% of the school days in April and are considered chronically absent for the month of April. While absence are unavoidable when there is serious illness or family emergencies, we ask that families strive to have their student Here, Everyday, Ready, On time (HERO!). Please talk with your student about how they can be an attendance HERO for the remaining weeks of school in May.
ANCCS April 2024 90% Attendance rate: 63.71%
ASD April 2024 90% Attendance rate: 62.16%
Keeping Kids Safe Online
ANCCS, like many other schools, has had recent concerns about inappropriate language among students. In talking with students and families, a lot of this language is being learned from and shared on social media, youtube, and other internet sources. While students are not allowed to access these sources or use their cell phones during the school day, we know that many of our students are interacting online outside of school. We hope to continue to partner with families in taking proactive measures to keep our students safe online while responding to any concerns as they arise.
Here are some ways you can help:
1. Check your student's devices and accounts regularly. Monitor what sites, channels, and accounts your student is accessing.
2. Use parental controls and safety settings on your student's devices and accounts in order to limit what your student can access and when.
3. Talk with your student about why online safety is important and ways that they can keep themselves safe online. Make sure your student knows your expectations for what they may and may not do online.
4. Talk with your student about appropriate and inappropriate language and what they should do if they encounter inappropriate language or topics.
At ANCCS, we monitor student safety closely; in addition, we teach our students the skills they will need to be successful in life. This includes talking to our students about how to safely navigate the online landscape and digital communication.

Food & Snacks at School
As the end of the school year approaches, there will be lots to celebrate! Please remember that cupcakes and cakes should be saved for out-of-school celebrations. Instead, fruit cups, popsicles, or other healthy snacks make great treats when bringing in food to share with the class.
We also kindly remind families that meals should only be dropped off to be eaten during your student's lunch period and only when necessary (such as when a lunch was forgotten at home). We have noticed an increase in takeout meals and drinks being dropped off to the school. This is disruptive to student learning and puts an extra burden on our front office staff.
