No School on November 11th
Monday, November 11th is a professional development day for all Scott 2 certified faculty members. Students will not have classes to attend in the buildings, Google meets to join online, or any assigned tasks to complete on Monday. All classes resume on Tuesday, November 12th for the start of our second trimester.
Canned Food Drive
SMS Student Council members are coordinating a canned food drive from November 12 - 22. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate any non-perishable food item during these days. All collected items will be delivered to the Scott County Clearinghouse so our local families can benefit.
End of Second Six Weeks and First Trimester
Report cards will be published in Harmony Family Access on Wednesday, November 13th.
Students' grades from the first six weeks and second six weeks of each course are averaged to create a trimester grade. It is labeled "Final" on their report card.
Eligibility for extracurricular activities is based on students' six week grades.
Eligibility for end-of-year medals is based on trimester grades. Medals are awarded by GPA, not by all As or by all As and Bs.
Spell Bowl Team Headed to State
The SMS spell bowl team competed in the area contest last Wednesday evening.
Their team score was high enough to qualify them for the state competition at Purdue University on Saturday, November 16th.
Team members are Aurelia Randall, Hailey Davidson, Chevelle Francis, William Reece, Lance Broyer, Maebree Brooks, Milly Guerrero, and Abbey Smitson.
Eighth grader Chevelle Francis completed a perfect round during the area contest and will also compete in an individual round in the coming days.

Gratitude Gazette
Each year SMS launches the Gratitude Gazette during the month of November. It is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to express their gratitude for people that we spotlight each day.
If you would like to share your gratitude for SMS folks, here are the groups that we're highlighting this week:
Tuesday, November 12th - elective teachers
Wednesday, November 13th - special ed teachers
Thursday, November 14th - aides
Friday, November 15th - SRO
Recipients will receive their messages at the end of each day. The Gratitude Gazette has been a positive experience for the past three years, so all SMS students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate.
Winter Sports Season
Winter sports are basketball, cheer, swimming, and wrestling.
Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for updates about practices and competitions.
Eventlink is the platform that we use to communicate with parents/family members regarding practices and events.

Harmony Family Access
Harmony made some updates over the summer, including a new link for Harmony Family Access. When you need to visit Harmony Family Access to update information, check grades, add money to a cafeteria account, etc., please use this link. It is also located on the Scott 2 website under "Students & Parents" if you prefer to access it from there.
