Dear Glen Grove Families,
Tonight is Gator Games Night! We hope to see everyone at Glen Grove tonight at 5:30 to play and connect. It should be lots of fun, and there will be pizza!
Glen Grove is a busy place this time of year, filled with celebratory and transition activities. This week, our fifth graders visited the middle schools, and next week, we look forward to welcoming the WB second graders for a tour at Glen Grove. Our third graders performed their fairy tales for families during drama class, and we have the chorus and orchestra concerts on the horizon. It’s an exciting time of year!
Next week, we will start our end-of-year NWEA assessments. Glen Grove will test on May 1st (reading) and May 6th (math). These assessments help our teachers understand the growth of your child and support planning for next year. Thank you for ensuring your child has had a great night sleep and a healthy breakfast before testing.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. I am incredibly proud of our students' growth this year, and your involvement is vital to their success. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.

We have a VERY healthy collection of items in our Lost & Found. Please encourage your student to check the MPR and the office for any outerwear, water bottle or other missing items.
Parents - when you come to the school, feel free to ask to check the Lost & Found for an item your student may have overlooked. We love to get items back where they belong!
All items remaining in our Lost & Found after the last day of school are donated or disposed of.

GLEN GROVE ATTENDANCE
All student absences should be called into the attendance line no later than 7:45 a.m. at (847) 657-2392. The Attendance Line has voicemail so parents can call to leave messages at any time.
If you do not notify your Student's school of your child's absence your student will have an UNEXCUSED ABSENCE for the day.
ILLNESS
If your student is sick please keep your child home until he/she is feeling well, symptoms have improved and fever free for over 24 hours without fever reducing medications and no vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours.
The Online Book Fair
Today is the last day for families to order from the online book fair. Items will be delivered to the school to be sent home with your children. Just visit GG’s Literati Online Fair or https://literati.com/store/?school=glen-grove-elementary-school-glenview-il
Important Book Dates
The last day for students to check out is Friday, May 16th. All books are due back to the library on Friday, May 23rd. This gives us time to inventory the library. Families will be charged for lost books on the last day of school. This is also the last day families can request a refund from the district business office for lost books that have been paid for during this school year.
One More Thing
LOOKING FORWARD: You may be receiving multiple overdue notices over the next month as we attempt to get all library books returned. Please check in with your student regarding their Destiny account. All books will be due to the library by Friday, May 23rd.
Following the steps that all District 34 LRCs use, all books that are not returned by the last day of school, June 3rd, will be considered lost. The cost will be billed through your student's PowerSchool account. Unfortunately, we cannot accept replacement books or payments directly to the library.
The 3rd grade hallway is locked in to science for the rest of the school year, learning all about inherited vs environmental traits and why siblings may share particular traits but generally have some amount of variation to them. Acting as a classroom full of puppies, we have begun putting our data collection and analysis skills to practice this week to better explore the concept of trait variation. And soon, our 3rd grade classrooms will be hosting some special friends for the remainder of the school year so please stay tuned to learn about this special opportunity!
Our lucky 5th graders got an extra dose of science this week with a field trip to the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry on Earth Day! SO jealous!!!! On top of all of the Earth science they've been learning lately, the 5th grade Gators were able to explore how math, technology, human health, transportation, and more all intersect to influence and affect our lives. Stay tuned for much more science learning as we look towards the start up of our next science unit in a few weeks.
ALL Gator Families!!!!! Save the Date for the GG/WB district STEM night at Attea Middle School on Wednesday, May 14th. It promises to be an evening full of opportunities for you and your young scientist(s) to explore K-5 STEM learning across the district. More information will be coming out in the next few weeks, but get it on your calendar now. You won't want to miss this!
